(CNN) – Is the presidency in need of some musical rebranding? According to GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain, a less traditional marching beat may be in order.
On Sunday, Cain told Fox News' Chris Wallace that the traditional marching song "Hail to the Chief" - usually played when the president arrives at formal appearances - could use some updating.
The former Godfather's Pizza CEO, who released his own gospel CD in 1996, reasoned: "It's kind of like in marketing. Periodically, companies that have been successful at branding, they might modify their logo just a little bit to give it a fresher look. I think 'Hail to the Chief' needs a little bit fresher sound."
So how would Cain update poet Walter Scott's and composer James Sanderson's classic refrain?
"It won't be hip hop," Cain said. But "I might put some gospel beats" into the song, he hinted.
OMG! This man is proving to be just as much an idiot as the as Bachmann and I didn't think that was possible.
Should we redesign the flag as well for being so 3 century's ago? How about some designer paint touches on the White House?
That proves it. Herman Cain is a radical.
is this really appealing to the republican base?
Yeah; I can almost hear the Loony Tunes theme as you speak Herb.
If Cain wins I suggest the Star Wars theme played when Darth Vader enters.
My ears are bleeding! From hearing this guy's singing If you can call that singing.
" It won't be hip hop" – – Man, I'll bet he couldn't say that FAST ENOUGH. Would want to scare those Republican zealots too much.
Look Mr. Cain, the truth is, the Right Wing tolerates you right now because you serve a purpose; you help to sanitize their UNPRINCIPLED opposition to Mr. Obama. In many ways you are just like Michael Steele. As serious a candidate as you may think you are, the GOPTP is never going to support you – they are afraid you inner "angry black man" will come out.
I say let's find a contemporary Gil Scot Heron to pen your new version of "Hail To The Chief". The GOPTP would loose their minds.
Again, Cain shows himself to be an idiot
A straw poll is just that. Straw. Cain will join his straw sister Bachman in the big straw pile. Obsms/Biden 2012.
He is a pizza slinger, what does this say about Mitt and Perry in that yahoos like Cain, Bachmann, etc. are even being considered.
Cut from the same fluff as Palin.
Really?? And what about jobs... not the ones YOU created at minimum wage either. I'm talking 'I got a future here' job that pays well and comes with benifits. Or, are we all gonna rely on 'our tips' to pay the billls?
The club can't even hold em' now. YES WE CAIN !!!
He is really entertaining; over-reaching indeed.
With all of the things that a President has on his plate, Mr. Cain, why on earth do you want to mess with the music too? Honestly, you Republicans just can't seem to keep your focus on the real needs of the American people! For you and the other candidates it is all about everything this President has done wrong, and ALL that you think you can do to get it right!!! The people in this country certainly don't have time to think about changing "Ruffles and Flourishes"!! THEY ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR A JOB, ANY JOB!!! Attention!! Attention!! JOBS!! JOBS!! JOBS!!!
Fortunately, Cain will never hear "Hail to the Chief" played in his honor. If he wants to freshen it up, he can hum it.
Cain has been brainwashed by Republicans and now he is so far gone that he actually thinks he has a chance of getting the Republican nomination.Republicans brainwashed Michael Steele and now Cain has taken the bait hook, line and sinker and Cain is starting to sound like Crazy Eyes Bachmann.
Maybe he'll decide next that we need to change that old stars and stripes logo. 😛
This guy is a joke (like the rest of the republican/tparty). Like there is really nothing better to do or more important then a new hail to the chief, Maybe what he wants is "All hail to the idiots who vote for republican candidates."
I say a Cain/Bachman ticket would be a great thing for America. Let's encourage all the Republican's we know to make it happen. Heck, I'll go door-to-door to promote that one. These two truly represent the Republican party. Dumb and dumber.
Not exactly the first priority for a new President but then maybe that is jobs bill, it would employ hip-hop artists.
