(CNN) -– House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that comments made by Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown about a Democratic rival showed a “disrespect for women.”
Brown made the remarks Thursday, when asked about candidate Elizabeth Warren’s statement that she had “kept her clothes on” while paying for college. Warren was making reference to a nearly nude 1982 Cosmopolitan magazine photo shoot that Brown did to earn money at age 22.
When asked about the comment during a radio interview with WZLX in Boston, Brown said only, "Thank God.”
Pelosi said Sunday on the ABC program “This Week” that the comment was disrespectful.
“The response you just gave, 'Thank God,' really, I thought spoke volumes about how clueless Senator Brown is,” Pelosi said. “It really spoke volumes about, really, disrespect for women that he may not even realize. I bet you he'd like to take that comment back.”
Pelosi acknowledged that the comment was likely meant to be a joke, but maintained that it was still revealing of Brown’s character.
“I hope it's joke-y. And if it is, then hopefully he will take that comment back. But women know. They hear a comment like that, it tells you a lot about somebody,” Pelosi said.
What does this have to do with the job that they were elected for? Frankly all three of them need to go. Let's start electing people who are focused on the issues as opposed to those who seem to want to act like childrem/
Wait, wasn't it Nancy who authorized the bank bailout, and it brought on the subprime debacle. Nancy may be in early dementia since she is like 75 or so. She needs mental health help. Now she is saying the Occupy folks support her and Obama. Obama never got us out of Irag and surged 140,000 troops into Afghanistan against Bidens opinion.
Pelosi has the nerve to say some one is disrespectful toward women i read what was said and found nothing diserespectful, with the exception that Pelosi is very disrespectful for even being a public official and getting into things that she should not worry about. Pelosi should do everyone a favor and resign and go home.
Because of his comeback to a tasteless dig by Ms Warren Gov. Brown is 'disrespectful' to women? Nonsense! But MY respect for ONE woman, namely Nancy, just went down another notch...
Elizabeth Warren is actually looking out for us, the American consumer. We need more people like her in the Senate that care about the middle class!
You know I'm a democrat, but I think Scott deserves a bit more respect than having grown ups judging his lifestyle. If you are going to take a swipe at somebody's moral values, don't come around knocking yourself over for being offended by his response. Quite frankly, these ladies have no idea what they are talking about.
Well, thank God she did keep her clothes on when paying her way through college. If she had taken her clothes off, wouldn't that open her up to the usual sexual controversies with women in politics? If Brown spins this right, he could make himself look pretty good.
Liberal complaints. Nothing to see here move on...
Disrespectful to women??? Really?? LOL!!
Brown sold his soul to Wall St and the Banks.
All else said is irrelevant !
I hope Warren boots this Republican garbage out of office. She is a real Democrat. Not a DINO.
I really do not support Palin or Michelle B, but they have been totally disrespected. Called stupid. Not as good as the male candidates. Cant't have it both ways Nancy.
well you have to pay for your past sins and she nasty when she was 22 just think of all the junk we will on people in 25 years thanks to facebook lmao
Looking at their pictures, Scott Brown has connected ear lobes compared to Elizabeth Warren's detached earlobes. He is recessive and she is dominate. His image issues and her lack of image issues is also telling. I guess I would rather vote for a dominate person without issues.
Yet I'd be willing to bet if it was a democratic man saying it about a republican woman Pelosi would be silent. She's not one to be talking about character either.
Suppose he had said the opposite thing, something like,"Well, I would have liked to see that." Then he'd be wrong, too. What was he supposed to say, anyway? Does Ms. Pelosi have something he could have said that can't be called offensive from one perspective or another? Maybe it's the subject, which should be buried and forgotten, that's offensive.
How pathetic Pelosi truly is. Warren's underhanded comment obviously directed at Brown is fine, but his retort is not? Just shows how pathetic liberals have become with their hypocrisy. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. (Oh, wait, was that disrespectful to women, too?)
I see three faced Nancy is hypocracizing again. Dont streatch your faces too much Nancy.
This is exactly why those of us that don't deep throat the Republican and Democrat party line can't stand either party. Neither party is interested in fixing anything, and this only proves that notion even further.
She took a cheap shot at him, and he returned with an equally cheap shot. Who cares? This junk is just meant to distract us from the fact that our politicians have all been bought and sold.
That was a cheap shot by a male Senator not schooled in sexual harassment. The intolerent remarks wouldn't be considered appropriate in place of business. I have heard her speak before. Very nice lady. He on the other hand he sounds like a male chauvinist pig. I would vote him out of office.
Once again Congress is acting like little children, and the press is making some kind of big news about this childish chart...Jersey Shores in Congress...
Sorry the woman brought it up first and he responded. Pelosi is trying to pull a double standard over our eyes.
Yes, Brown's comment was disrespectful - but so was Warren's. Now would they both please act like adults and talk about important issues?
If a guy had said what she said would that have been wrong? I am so sick of the double standerd on things like this! If she sends one over the bow then plan on one coming back at you... Man or woman...
