(CNN) – Businessman Herman Cain credits his win at the Florida "Presidency 5" straw poll with giving him enough steam to succeed at subsequent straw polls - and pick up additional financial support along the way.
Listing a string of wins including his victory at the Western Conservative Summit in Denver and Florida's "Presidency 5" during a media avail in New Hampshire Wednesday, Cain exclaimed, "There's a theme here, I win!"
And with those wins, he said he's picked up enough of a money boost to ramp up "state strategy" and prepare for upcoming caucuses and primaries.
"We're now going to ramp up...we are ramping up and filling some very valuable positions that we need to fill," Cain said. "The compression of the time leading up to the first caucus and primary and we now have the money to do so."
"It really started with that straw poll in Florida," the former CEO of Godfather's Pizza stated.
Chastising the media for trying to make the race for the 2012 GOP nomination a two-person race, Cain jokingly asked, "What are the rest of us, chopped liver?"
He compared his strategy with that of those two he said were formally at the top of the tier. Claiming that "Perry and Romney spent a lot of money to try and influence that straw poll," Cain said his campaign "got on a bus and went all over" to talk with potential supporters.
"Newt Gingrich thinks it's a two-man race between Gingrich and Cain," he jibed, but the former conservative radio talk show host doesn't agree that it's a two-person race at all.
Instead, he said it is a race the people are going to decide as time goes on.
"We will hire more staff in New Hampshire… we will hire more staff in Iowa...we will need to be more competitive in both states," Cain asserted.
"It may not be possible to overcome [Romney's] big lead, but it may be possible to close the gap."

If Cain represents the tea party, we can make it official, that the t party is dead and thd movement is over, in the next weeks you won't be able to find a teapublican.
Aquila. research it.
The only theme I see here is that he spews really stupid sh-t...over and over and over and over and over again...
and the right constantly says Obama is arrogant, I'll bet this s&%ts with the door open because he believes it smells like roses.
The Theme I see is- Republicans are fickle and don't bother doing any research before saying they back someone.
Trump, Romney,Palin,Romney,Bachmann, Romney,Paul,,Perry,Christie,Romney, Cain, Romney – wait- isn't Shrek running? Romney.....
Mr. Cain still thinks it is all about the money. Money is important in campaigns. Policy is more important to being a successful POTUS. Did you see his debate performance last night.
"Mister President, we are under terrorist attack." "9-9-9"
"Mister President, Israel and Hamas are at war." "9-9-9"
"Mister President, a call from the Queen of England." "9-9-9"
"Mister President, do you fell okay?" "9-9-9"
Cain is a bombastic buffoon who will never hold elected office.

Actually, where are your donation totals for the last quarter Cain??? You’ve been in this race long enough to show your quarterly fundraiser amounts. For some reason, we only hear from the frontrunners?? What about it CNN?
At least Cain has a plan. That's more than Perry, Bachmann or Newt have presented. The Bush tax cuts for the rich have failed us and almost put us in a depression. It's about time the rich and big business pay what everyone else does.
We'll talk to you in November after your delusional fantasy ends. I'll bring the pizza.
"It may not be possible to overcome [Romney's] big lead, but it may be possible to close the gap."
Not being able to overcome Romeny's big lead pretty much defeats Cain's own "I Win" theme, doesn't it?
Does he not get that straw polls are not real or binding? Michelle B did really well at the first big one and where is she now?
And this whole "I win" thing reminds me of someone?!?!?! I know!!!! Charlie Sheen!!!!
"I win does not mean I win?" We need Sarah Palin to translate, because Herb speaks in tongues. I am getting tired of the lying republican candidates and their looney followers' baseless attacks on the president and 99% of the population. Republicans are a disaster just waiting to wreak havoc on our country and 99% of Americans on behalf of the billionaires and big corporations.
You're a bafoon, Cain. You won't win the GOP nomination, loser.
Please no slezzy millionaires need to be president . I live in florida we have one and he truely sucks as governor. They don't fix anything. They just get in there to help there rich friends get richer, and race doesn't matter there are white sellouts and black sellouts just a face. America has already been sold to banks and big corp. America wake up before its too late.
@Thad- Amen to your comment!
The Willie Best of the republican party.
"At least Cain has a plan."
Please explain to everyone why "any plan" is better than no plan. Cain might as well be a political version of Larry from Perfect Strangers given the sense that his "at least I have a plan" plan makes.
