Gingrich raises $800,000 in third quarter

(CNN) - Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign raised over $800,000 in the third quarter and spent nearly $777,000, leaving the former Speaker of the House with $353,416 in cash-on-hand funds.

The GOP candidate’s financial report, filed Saturday with the Federal Election Commission, shows the Gingrich campaign owing $1,192,865 in outstanding debt.

Gingrich did not make any contributions of his own money to the campaign, according to the filing.

In a statement, Gingrich's campaign pointed out some bright spots in the fundraising report, including support coming from new donors.

In total, Gingrich has raised nearly $2.9 million in his bid for the 2012 GOP nomination, and has spent over $2.5 million.

The highest expenditures for Gingrich’s third-quarter campaigning were website development, salaries and telemarketing, according to the filing.

In the most recent CNN Poll of Polls, encompassing surveys taken October 3-10, 6% of Republican voters identified Gingrich as their choice for the presidential nominee.

Newt owes 2 million in dept . Now Rep. Michele Bachmann’s is 2 million in dept ?

The press needs to ask these two big spenders about the parallel between the economic debt crisis and there own campaign finance strategy !

Could CNN please make public what banks our providing such a credit line !

Not to worry Newt. Write a book – maybe about adultry or dishonorable service as Speaker of the House. Conservatives will buy it if you blame it on President Obama and sell it on Fox News.

The figures noted in this blog do not make much sense. it does appear that Mr. Gingrich has overspent and now has a deficit. He is a very savvy politician and yet he does not see that his candidacy is not getting the support he needs.

That ought to be enough for at least a few more private jet charters Newt. Amazing how all these candidates are carping about fiscal responsibility and they are all spending more that they have raised. One exception might be Mittens.

Another GOP candidate in debt, so much for handling our money when they can't even manage their own. Hypocrites!

The ginGRINCH will NOT dip into his own money. He's out there just to use donor money and when it's all gone and no more is coming in, he'll quit!!

Newt Gingrich is the problem not the solution. Why would anyone, conservative, liberal, or independent even consider supporting anyone who has been bilking the American tax payers his entire career.

This fool must be delusional when he started this fiasco of a campaign thinking he would get the nomination of the Republican party with all his personal issues.

So the supposedly smart Republican is 600 grand in the red? Oh yeah, he's also the one who said that he doesn't have to live by the same standards that he demands of everyone else.

Why all this wasted space on Republicans? They have NO ONE who is a credible leader and NONE have any grassroots support because their only donors are corporations and a handful of billionaires.
How about a story on the corrupt Koch brothers being caught doing secret, illegal business with IRAN? That is treason and they are using that money to fund and influence the Republican Party. How about THAT story CNN? That is real news and matters a lot when these men run retreats for Supreme Court Justices Thomas and Scalia, pour millions into local judge elections, and corrupt our election system. Money running our elections is bad enough but corrupt money from an enemy nation is pure treason and should have to be returned.

If they gave my kid this math problem, I wouldn't be able to figure it out:

Newt Gingrich has raised nearly $2.9 million in his bid for the 2012 GOP nomination, and has spent over $2.5 million. The Gingrich campaign has $353,416 in cash-on-hand, and owes $1,192,865 in outstanding debt.

    How is this possible?
