Obama will act alone to help economy, Carney says

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama will use the power of the executive branch to do as much as possible to reinvigorate the slumping economy without assistance from a divided Congress, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told CNN Tuesday.

"Whatever he can do as president, he will do," Carney said during an appearance on "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."

Dictator Obummie better be careful. He doesn't have that power under our constitution. Dictators have been disposed of lately. Obummie you will be voted out of office before you can ruin this country.

Go Obama! I support him, the only way to get the US out of the mess the Republicans left under Bush is a jobs bill !We must get middle class working and buying again!

The fail policy of the Republicans of the giving tax cuts to the rich did not work in the past and help create the deficit and will not work in the future.
Between Cain Romney and Perry its the same tax bill cuts for the rich and reduce entitlements to the poor at the smae time that middle class working class people are struggling to put food on the table.

Americans should call their Republican congressman and tell them to pass the job bill it is what 75% of the American population wants and 69% of Americans what tax hikes for the rich millionaires

Tax credits should be given to small business that actually create jobs dismantling the EPA as the Republicans now will only kill Americans health, What is the since of having a job when it is killing you !

Corporations have over 2 trillion dollars in savings and they are not hiring in the US giving them a tax cut will not create jobs

If the Republicans want to be taken seriously they need to understand how Economics actually work you cant pray on it you got to pay for it !

    Pass the job bill!

Lets see how many nanoseconds pass before the GOP starts shouting and pointing their fingers and crying foul. The speaker (who is holding this country hostage) keeps parroting his 'Weve already tried a stimulus, and it didnt work!' line. The fact is that the biggest problem this country has has come from the House republicans who consistently block anything that supports this president's agenda. How is it that this administration is 'Spending us into oblivion', if the House filibustered everything till they gained the majority, and voted NO on everything since? Tell me why any bill in the Senate requires 60 votes to pass, instead of the 51 required by the constitution? I lay the blame where it belongs, at the feet of the GOP.

The Republicans in Congress have become obstuctionist to recovery. I do not know of one person or community or business that has benniffited from the Congressional Republicans policy of "NO to Everything". I do know that I was able to buy my first home because of President Obama. Since the Republican havn't done anything anyway it should not be a big change for them.

  12. Lost in Texas FOREVER and EVER

President Obama is dealing with a Republican party that not only has NO shame but can not even be embarassed. So what if the economy fails, jobs aren't created fast enough, and the rich get richer..they DON'T CARE as long as they think it is a way to the White House in 2012. They have all but said so that their main goal is to make him a one-term president. A majority of the polls show the American people favor many of the divsions of his jobs act, favor endiing tax breaks for big oil, favor raising taxes on the upper 1%, and favor ending the Iraq war and bringing our troops home for the holidays. The current GOP is against ALL of this. I wish the president luck in his quest to aid the middle class and the working class but don't expect the GOP and the 3 or 4 DINOS in the Senate that care more about their jobs in their conservative areas than they do the rest of us.

Down with the illuminati republicans. Republicans 2012, are pitting millions out of work for greed, power without limits and ousting a black man, to make those black people look incompitent. We Republicans have never treated a president so horrible. I am ashamed and gonna vote democrat this time. Its the only moral thing we republicans can do to make it right.

The Republicans will go down in history as being the WORST congress that ever existed!!! It's too bad the Republicans will be remembered as "obstructionist" and the "do nothing congress” during the most historical moment in history – electing the first African American president.

I can see the history books now and students analyzing this time in history. They will see right through it and not understand why the American people today were so blind. They will learn all of the accomplishments President Obama made and wonder why all of it was totally unnoticed.

The moral of this story is, it will get even worse for the Republicans when President Obama gets elected a second term in 2012!!!

  18. Data Driven

A Constitutional Crisis might be worthwhile: maybe Obama can simply order the Treasury to fund the important stimulus measures and debt relief that are so critical for our recovery, and decree the policies enacted by executive fiat. (This sort of thing worked well for Lincoln.) Constitution's important and all, but when the opposing party is holding the economy hostage for political gain, then maybe a Constitutional Crisis is in order. Better than doing nothing. Let the Republicans try to throw him out of office for trying to extend unemployment benefits or what-have-you. If Obama's going down, he should go down swinging.
