Trump's 'birther' prediction for Perry

(CNN) – Donald Trump predicted fanning the "birther" flames is a "positive thing" for Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry.

During an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan, the real estate mogul said the issue would help the Texas governor in the Republican presidential primary, but might not be "good for him in the general election."

Trump championed the "birther" issue during his flirtation with a bid for the White House. President Barack Obama, who was born in Hawaii, eventually released the long form version of the document to seemingly combat the growing rumors.

Texas Gov. Perry recently expressed doubts about the validity of the birth certificate.

On Wednesday, Perry told Florida's Bay News 9 he was "just having some fun with Donald Trump."

But Trump continued to raise questions about the certificate, saying Obama "might have been" born in America.

"My gut tells me a couple of things. Number 1, you know it took a long time to produce this certificate and when it came out, as you know, you check out the internet, many people say it is not real. Okay? It's a forgery," Trump said. "And the other thing is, nobody has been able to see the day of his birth, they had twins born, they had the other one born. Nobody has been able to find any records that he was born in that hospital."

CNN released the results of its own investigation into the controversy earlier this year. Documents and statements from numerous public officials and childhood friends made clear that the president was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.

I think Trump is trying to sabotage the Republicans – he's a Democrat in disguise!! And what does it say for Perry that he had dinner with Donald and actually sucked all that up? Do we really want someone with this kind of judgment in such a high office?? What's he doing in one now?

The president is vetted by the CIA and the FBI for top security clearances.

If there were a problem with his citizenship, they would have uncovered it.

Birthers are simply idiots, or racists who can't come to terms with their racism.

This is a classic case of cognitive dissonance. Even if they produced a video of Obama’s birth, idiots like Trump would still cry “fake!” I noticed that Trump has become fatter since the whole “birther” issue. I’m starting to believe that the criteria for being a Republican are that you must be white and extremely bloated. His head is like a pumpkin.

This is really highlighting Perry's idiocy – the fact that he quotes the Donald. The world is laughing at the US for even paying attention to such fools.

Perry has yet to figure out this politics thing. Mitt isn't getting the Birther vote. So Perry doesn't need to cater to these crazies. He needs to cater to Mitt's crazies, er ... voters. A simple "Obama was born in this country. Next question ..." wouldn't have cost him anything. By worrying about a fringe group of a fringe group, Perry managed to divert attention away from his tax plan. The Democrats couldn't have scripted this one any better.

I know everyone has the right to their opinion, whether it is intelligent or not. However the following people should keep their pie hole shut; Donald Trump!

Donald Trump...your slip is showing. I'm not sure why people still spend money to stay in your hotels. I for one wouldn't spend one red cent at any of your properties. It would be like giving Whitney Houston a dollar...you know it's just going to be spent on some craziness.

This would never end. First, it was that there was no certificate. So the President produced it. Now it is that it is fake. But it is not the President's responsibility to prove it is geniune; it is the responsibility of these losers to prove it is fake. Trump should know a thing or two about fakes.

Where is the birth certificate for Trumps hair? That thing is big enough to cover how fat he is which is getting pretty close to Christie. Is their a connection between a at body and a fat mouth filled with nothing but hot air.

The only thing as pathetic as Trump are the news media who keep giving him space and time.

I salute Trump. The way he has been playing around with GOP people, only god knows. It does not need any brain surgery to figure out what Trump is after for!

Just because obama was probably born outside the US doesn`t mean Perry should waste time on an issue you can`t change. Obama`s fascist agenda is more of an issue for the campaign.

soooooooo ... trump thinks continuing a proven false issue would be good for the republican nomination?

what does that tell you about trump? what does that tell you about republicans?

Trump being treated like he's important to the process of someone being elected just shows how terrible a job the news media is doing. They should treat Nothings like nothings.

If we had more responsible media organizations, I'm certain that would be even more powerful than money in solving this beautiful planet's long list of terrible problems.

To all media executives who further trashy news and distorted news, may you forever burn in Hell for using your truly immense power for good for things so petty.

Are we certain yet that Rick Perry was not the product of an incestuous relationship between him mother and a goat? He never produced his birth certificate for CNN as it requested.

And, what of Donald Trump's lineage? Was his mother really a shaved monkey? We don't really know because we've never seen HER birth certificate. Donald, please some clean with the people of The United States!!! Was your mother a shaved monkey?????

So keeping this fantasy alive may help him win the primary, but if he does it will cost him the general election... typical GOP philosophy, cut off off your nose to spite your face.
