Trump's 'birther' prediction for Perry

(CNN) – Donald Trump predicted fanning the "birther" flames is a "positive thing" for Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry.

During an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan, the real estate mogul said the issue would help the Texas governor in the Republican presidential primary, but might not be "good for him in the general election."

Trump championed the "birther" issue during his flirtation with a bid for the White House. President Barack Obama, who was born in Hawaii, eventually released the long form version of the document to seemingly combat the growing rumors.

Texas Gov. Perry recently expressed doubts about the validity of the birth certificate.

On Wednesday, Perry told Florida's Bay News 9 he was "just having some fun with Donald Trump."

But Trump continued to raise questions about the certificate, saying Obama "might have been" born in America.

"My gut tells me a couple of things. Number 1, you know it took a long time to produce this certificate and when it came out, as you know, you check out the internet, many people say it is not real. Okay? It's a forgery," Trump said. "And the other thing is, nobody has been able to see the day of his birth, they had twins born, they had the other one born. Nobody has been able to find any records that he was born in that hospital."

CNN released the results of its own investigation into the controversy earlier this year. Documents and statements from numerous public officials and childhood friends made clear that the president was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.

Trump does NOT gains him nothing! The truth is that Obama is a liar and a thief and a Muslim and should be impeached! He has helped to destroy this economy along with Bush....they both belong in prison.

Let me pile on here – Thank you Donald for re-re-re-raising this so called issue. It appears to me that you're really trying to get the president re-elected and trying to distract Perry and bring him down and he's dumb enough to take the bait. Once again – Thank you Donald. Obama/Biden 2012 !

I lost all respect for Trump when he started the "birthert" BS. Now Perry is showing a lack of judgment.
Cain blew up yesterday with his smoking ad and Romney is looking good. The Republicans wonder why they lost the White House. The answer is Palin since she was not vetted properly and it indicated a lack of judgment. My opinion but I still hear "I can see Russia from my window" and I read everything but can name nothing.

They need to give up the birther crap....ok so some people truly think he was not born here, but how much more proof do you need besides the birth certificate that has already been put out there. Not to mention do you really think that he would have been able to get into the election process if there wasn't a birth certificate....get real people

Trump-born on home plate and spends his days crowing that he hit a home run. An empty headed buffoon putting his stamp of approval on a moron. If you've seen the mini-series "Generation Kill", check out the Encino Man character. He's Rick Perry to a T!. Why does Texas elect so many idiots to the Governor's office? I feel sorry for Austin.

As a CEO of a corporation Trump is as stupid as one can get, with this nonsense he is putting his investors at risk because the more Trump speaks the less people want anything to do with anything that says Trump on it. There must be millions of people thus far that will not support any Trump product. When you are supposed to be a business leader this is the lowest you can go, and the Banks that own Trump should fire him for putting them at risk with this dangerous behaviour. It is no wonder Trump keeps going bankrupt with stupidity like this, problem is average investors and banks get the brunt of hurt from an idiot like this.Trump would never get hired in the real world of CEO's

    He's a comunity organizer; he's not a citizen' he's a socialist. Rewind.
I can't wait until they get their idiots down to one, and THAT ONE goes up against THIS ONE. Believe you us, THIS ONE will pulverize that one in a debate, on ANY topic, including the economy. This one is an erudite statesman with A LOT of experience under his belt this time around. That one will only be the last clown standing.

II've never seen evidence that Trump is a US citizen. Deport him immediately, preferably to Antarctica.

When they say "bring in the clowns" I guess they was referring to Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Paul, Gingwich, Romney, and their leaders Trump and Rush.

Trump also thinks that being a loud-mouthed bore is the way to go, as he has devoted all of his strength and energy to that purpose. Where do you think Comb-over would be without his rich father? The silver spoon is still in his mouth.

The Obama team has offered to pay for as much TV time that Trump would like to take up. I understand Obama still really feels bad about interrupting Trumps "Apprentice" with the announcment that he killed Osama Bin Ladin.

If Rick Perry listens to Trump he is a bigger fool that I thought. Look, Trump is no fan of Obama's, but he does not want Perry to be president. He is pumping him up about this birther crap because he knows it will hurt Perry and will significantly lower any chance he would have to become the republican nominee. Actually it is a pretty good strategy move on Trumps party, now let's see if Perry the dufus take the bait!

Donald Trump said the issue would help the Texas governor in the Republican presidential primary, but might not be "good for him in the general election."..... Translation: Republicans are, as a whole, less intelligent than the US public. End of story.
