Trump's 'birther' prediction for Perry

(CNN) – Donald Trump predicted fanning the "birther" flames is a "positive thing" for Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry.

During an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan, the real estate mogul said the issue would help the Texas governor in the Republican presidential primary, but might not be "good for him in the general election."

Trump championed the "birther" issue during his flirtation with a bid for the White House. President Barack Obama, who was born in Hawaii, eventually released the long form version of the document to seemingly combat the growing rumors.

Texas Gov. Perry recently expressed doubts about the validity of the birth certificate.

On Wednesday, Perry told Florida's Bay News 9 he was "just having some fun with Donald Trump."

But Trump continued to raise questions about the certificate, saying Obama "might have been" born in America.

"My gut tells me a couple of things. Number 1, you know it took a long time to produce this certificate and when it came out, as you know, you check out the internet, many people say it is not real. Okay? It's a forgery," Trump said. "And the other thing is, nobody has been able to see the day of his birth, they had twins born, they had the other one born. Nobody has been able to find any records that he was born in that hospital."

CNN released the results of its own investigation into the controversy earlier this year. Documents and statements from numerous public officials and childhood friends made clear that the president was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.

I've never seen Rick Perry's birth certificate. Texas is awfully close to Mexico. What is he hiding?

For all those folks who going on about the people on top having worked hard to get what they are, they deserve lower taxes, etc., take a look at this ignorant fool. What does it say about our priorities that we live in a culture where a man this uneducated (no matter where he says he went to school) and lacking in ethics can be so powerful and so worshipped for the mere fact of being weathy. We sit passively while this man pollutes the airwaves. No wonder things are such a mess.

Could we please look at all of Trump's Chapter 11 filings? He loves to abuse the system over and over again to bail out his backside and flops.

Whether or not Obama was born here (I believe not) is irrelevant. What matters is that yhe does not behave like an American. He is more like a muslim subtly trying to subvert our society.

So Donald Trump, the bad hair weave/carnival barking king is at it again. lol! Thank you Trump, Perry and the rest of the circus clowns that make up the GOP candidates. Your party is so extreme and pathetic that you're all a joke. Once again, thank you and keep up the good work on behalf of President Obama's re-election! I really appreciate all your hard work in getting the President re-elected.

Roland Martin is definitely right about Donald Trump. Trump is an idiot and Rick Perry should have had the brains to never go near the birther issue. Unfortuately, Perry touched the issue and is now trying to back away from it. It's too late. He is tarred with the issue. All of this demostates that Perry is not suitable for the U.S. presidency and that Trump should stick to what he knows best–Real Estate Development.

It's telling that Perry is now trying to distance himself from the birther issue; there's been a pretty big backlash against his comments and now he's saying it was all "in fun"; I don't think there are many people that think the birther issue is funny.

I think trump gets his fake hair at the same place Obama get his fake birth certificates. They just happened to bang into each other one day and asked the other to keep it on the down low. Since the world figured out Donald's hair, he figured what the heck? Turn him in.

Man, Perry, going for broke? Taking campaign tips from Donald Trump now? A guy who couldn't even get himself elected to the Happy-Hair Condo Assosication Board of Trustees.

Trump is such an idiot. His pathetic run in politics just proved he's more interested in inflating his ego than anything else. I can't wait for the day that his ego is so big that he can't fit into his penthouse. Trump do what you are best at...trying to figure out what to do with that hair. What a joke this man is!

Why doesn't Trump say how much money he has spent on this issue? Because in typical Trump fasion he's merely spewing venomous hot air in an attemp to get attention and falsely riun someone. That's how he makes his money and gets his man in the news.

Ok can someone explain this to me....why is it that when a person who appears to be smart in one subject area starts talking about a totally different subject people automatically assume they know what they are talking about? For example, I would go to a dentist to get my teeth cleaned but wouldn't expect my dentist to know anything about repairing cars or fashion. So why is it that people believe that Trump, who appears to be very knowledgable about real estate, knows anything at all about birth certificates, or politics for that matter? People who are extremely intelligent in one subject area tend to not know much at all about anything else (mainly bc they are so focused on leading edge innovations in their area of expertise). I know why the subject matter experts open their mouths in the first place, they can be ego maniacs that are used to people asking them their opinion about a wide variety of things all the time, so they porbably get lulled into thinking they know something about everything. Just because they can give you an answer doesn't mean its right....

Donald Trump should take care not to get too close to those fanned flame, he might catch his comb-over on fire! People tend to forget how often he's used / manipulated the government trough, and how many business failings he has had at the expense of others.

The Drudge Report has positive proof that Donald Trump was born in New York, on a small farm, that the birthwas live, that both parents were present, that there were no complications, that the small thing didn't squeel or sqirm. All of this has been attested to by the vetiranian who delivered te little porker.
