Trump's 'birther' prediction for Perry

(CNN) – Donald Trump predicted fanning the "birther" flames is a "positive thing" for Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry.

During an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan, the real estate mogul said the issue would help the Texas governor in the Republican presidential primary, but might not be "good for him in the general election."

Trump championed the "birther" issue during his flirtation with a bid for the White House. President Barack Obama, who was born in Hawaii, eventually released the long form version of the document to seemingly combat the growing rumors.

Texas Gov. Perry recently expressed doubts about the validity of the birth certificate.

On Wednesday, Perry told Florida's Bay News 9 he was "just having some fun with Donald Trump."

But Trump continued to raise questions about the certificate, saying Obama "might have been" born in America.

"My gut tells me a couple of things. Number 1, you know it took a long time to produce this certificate and when it came out, as you know, you check out the internet, many people say it is not real. Okay? It's a forgery," Trump said. "And the other thing is, nobody has been able to see the day of his birth, they had twins born, they had the other one born. Nobody has been able to find any records that he was born in that hospital."

CNN released the results of its own investigation into the controversy earlier this year. Documents and statements from numerous public officials and childhood friends made clear that the president was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.

I really do not understand how a guy like him gets airtime on CNN? Why can not media ignore him totally? Does it matter what he think? What credentials he has to get such a great attention from media? I have no idea...

Perry, you've been TRUMPED. Once the pink-tie hairball gets involved and starts speaking for you...... you've been given the death kiss by your own people. You are now the laughing stock of America. Somebody had to take Michele Bachman's place. Way to step up, chump.

This has to be a set up for Rick Perry to crash and burn. The poor Grand Old Party ( aka GOP) is turning into the laughing stock of the world. Does Donald Trump really believe that the good ol boys club would let a black man win the election and be president on a mistake. He is stupid. The sad truth is out of all the millions of people in the US nobody seems to be able to come up with any intelligent ideas and or have common people sense to make a difference and run for president. We need leadership, looking for dirt is not leadership. This is not a reality show Mr. Trump. Obama will win again because the GOP DOES NOT GET IT. These people are not smart enough to be president.

I suspect that Donald Trump is secretly a Democrat trying to make the Republican party look crazy.

The only thing that could make Rick Perry MORE stupid would be to take any advice from Donald Trump. Trump is a joke with a swollen head and ego and is really nothing more than an example of how far you can go in life by fluffing yourself up until people are forced to believe your BS.

  8. What now

Apparently, Mr. Trump didn't feel his was getting enough "air time". Sometimes, he reminds of Palin. Both say anything to get in the news. It's sad that he needs this kind of attention as it does not serve the country well. If I were Perry, I would worry that Mr. Trump was attempting sabbotaging my campaign.

Everyone agrees that Trump is a joke. The problem is that P. Morgan is still on the air. His interviews are awful, he almost has his head up the guest's colons.

Everyday I scan the news sites for an article by or about The Donald – I need a good laugh!
One can only wonder how someone so ignorant can get as far in life as he has!??? I'm baffeled.

So, what's he's saying is that the nut jobs can be found in the primaries, but not so much in the general election. Did you get that, conservatives? This is what we've been trying to tell you all along. Your representatives think you're idiots; that's why they pander to you with idiotic issues. But they know that the rest of us will not tolerate for the foolery, therefore, they must come to us with real solutions, none of that birther, marxist, socialist, fascist, quadruplemoron, hypocritical crap. Thusfar, they're all in #FAIL mode.

"Nacho1 – Obama's aunt in Kenya said that Barack was born in Kenya and that she was there at the time of birth and his birth was transferred to Hawaii to give the Obama baby U.S. citizenship. Is his aunt a liar?"

no, you are because she said no such thing.

Must be getting time for the premiere of The Apprentice. The "Hair" is back seeking the spotlight.

Keep talking Donald – you could wrap up the election for the Democrats if you can get a couple more of the Republican candidates to take your side.

the parade who has enlisted to consult with Trump: Palin, Bachmann and Perry? this is a serious credibility issue for Mr. Trump! I guess I never understood that he was such a social conservative!

Yes, the GOP should keep the birther issue at the center and the Dems should encourage them to do so. This should almost guarantee that Obama gets another 4 years. At this point, Obama is a better bet than any of the GOP front runners.

And Perry believed Trump. What a sucker! The birther issue finished off Trump's aspirations and it looks very likely that the same fate will befall Perry. I really wonder which party Trump is voting for anyway!

@Cedar Rapids, are you talking about the audio version of the interview of Obama's grandmother through a translator? That was totally debunked as a fraud. So now we have a debunked theory of a "word of mouth" confession versus a legal document? If the whole nation decided to use this type of information as documentation, we could render judgment against an entire society of birthers. We could even question the births of the decendants of the pilgrims. That would be interesting.

The only explanation is that Donald Trump is secretly a Democrat. Why else would he be getting these Republicans to say and act so stupidly?
