Trump's 'birther' prediction for Perry

(CNN) – Donald Trump predicted fanning the "birther" flames is a "positive thing" for Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry.

During an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan, the real estate mogul said the issue would help the Texas governor in the Republican presidential primary, but might not be "good for him in the general election."

Trump championed the "birther" issue during his flirtation with a bid for the White House. President Barack Obama, who was born in Hawaii, eventually released the long form version of the document to seemingly combat the growing rumors.

Texas Gov. Perry recently expressed doubts about the validity of the birth certificate.

On Wednesday, Perry told Florida's Bay News 9 he was "just having some fun with Donald Trump."

But Trump continued to raise questions about the certificate, saying Obama "might have been" born in America.

"My gut tells me a couple of things. Number 1, you know it took a long time to produce this certificate and when it came out, as you know, you check out the internet, many people say it is not real. Okay? It's a forgery," Trump said. "And the other thing is, nobody has been able to see the day of his birth, they had twins born, they had the other one born. Nobody has been able to find any records that he was born in that hospital."

CNN released the results of its own investigation into the controversy earlier this year. Documents and statements from numerous public officials and childhood friends made clear that the president was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.

To paraphrase Gene Wilder, what did you expect Trump to say? "Come on over for a pizza, Barack, all is forgiven now that you've shown me up"? You have to remember that the Birthers are just simple, regular people, the common clay of America: you know, morons.

Now cue for Mongo's (someone like Rickster will do) entrance.

Keep it up, Trump. I don't care if you're a DCL or a genuine conservative, just keep it up. Every time you open your mouth, you put the GOP in their place.

If Trump didn't periodically spout his views, as idiotic as they may be, he wouldn't be in the news and he would disappear into oblivion....his ego just can't handle that.

The Mindless One says: "Obama, Reid and Pelosi and their socialist policies will be stopped and reversed come 2012. Take it to the bank."

Again, nice slogan. But what a terrible level of stupidity to wish upon your fellow countrymen.....that they should ignore the FACTS, and choose instead to believe the fairytales that eminate from the [R] noise machine. Is America really THAT stupid, to repeat so soon the same mistake of 2000 and 2004? And for a fellow American to actually wish that kind of proven, abject [R] FAILURE to happen again to America is, well, certainly less than patriotic.

Let's see, the proven FAILURE of Teahadism versus the progress made under Obama. HMMMMMM. Looks like 2012 will be an IQ test.....and the neo-morons are elated to line up ahead of time to fail it!!!

To "Democrat Party – leftist "progressive" socialist communist losers hellbent on destroying the USA": get thee to a mirror, and behold what is wrong with America!

My question is to the Republican Voters: Why do you allow yourself to be PLAYED like this? If this doesn't tell you what your elected officials think of you, nothing will.

Perry needs something to run on. His flat tax (apparently the only thing Republicans can do is introduce the same lame ideas over and over) fell flat, considering that 90% of the taxpayers pay less than 20%, so the majority of taxpayers who will benefit are, you guessed it, the rich.

  10. P...what?

Trump knows enough about politics to stay out of it. He obviously gets a kick out of playing with everyone from the sidelines, and he's way too smart to ever be president. The way he toys with the media is masterful.

As an Obama supporter, I'm thrilled that these guys are keeping the birther issue alive, but I have to wonder if the Repubs are sinking their ship on purpose. They know this is only an issue with the right wing fringe and they certainly can't win a general election counting on them only, so one has to wonder....what's up???

Remember how Trump was going to show us his long-form birth certificate, and couldn't get it? Still can't get it. What is he hiding? And yes, this will be good for Perry. He can quit now and go back to Texas, where he has work to do.

Plenty of proof that GOP voters are morons here today. He's an American, and he got bin Laden when Cheney refused to act. The GOP got us attacked, and the Dems got our revenge, and the president will be re-elected. Suck on that, losers.

I think Trump is correct....I think he will release the information about 2 weeks before the election in 2012. He's waiting to play his "trump" card. Trump is neither a fool nor an idiot but does need a new hairdresser.

It's not even about Perry, it's about Trump. Trump doesn't do anything that won't benefit himself in some form or fashion. He just used poor and feeble-minded Perry as a mouth piece to draw attention to himself. Trump felt he wasn't getting enough attention lately, so he needed someone foolish enough to take the bait. Anyway, Lawrence O’Donnell called Trump's bluff last night on his show. He pretty much called Trump a liar and a fraud. Lawrence stated that Trump is nowhere near a billionaire as he claims. "Why would a billionaire host a show (The Apprentice) that only paid him a million dollars? I'll tell you why, it's because he needs the money," said Lawrence. Lawrence also dared Trump to sue him. He said that Trump never would sue because he simply can't afford to. Now that’s putting “the Donald” in his place!
