(CNN) - GOP presidential hopefuls looking for an endorsement from House Speaker John Boehner are out of luck.
The Ohio Republican told conservative radio host Laura Ingraham on her radio show Friday he was waiting until his party chooses a nominee to get involved in the presidential race.
"No I don't see that happening," Boehner said when asked if he was planning to endorse. "I think we have a lot of good candidates, they are out there presenting their ideas. I think it's important to allow those who show up to vote in the Republican primary to choose the candidate of their choice."
When Ingraham asked Boehner if he thought the most conservative candidate should win the primary election, the speaker said he was leaving those kinds of decisions to GOP voters.
"I think I'll let Republican voters around the country choose who they think the best candidate is," Boehner said. "I'm focused on getting my House team re-elected. Whoever the nominee is, I'm going to be there to support them, and to move the country in a direction that we can our economy going again, and fix broken tax code, and fix our debt problem."
When confronted with polls showing Obama beating his Republican rivals in Boehner's home state of Ohio, Boehner said he wasn't concerned.
"Well see, the election is a year away, plenty of time to get our answer out there," Boehner said.

"If this is the best the Republicans can do "
It IS the best they can do...that's why their strategy isn't to do everything in their power and abilities to govern as well as possible, but merely to break the gov't in order to prevent anyone else from governing doing so, because the GOP/Teatrolls sure as hell can't.
Well that should tell all the GOP hopefuls something, even cry baby bonehead Boehner thinks there worthless.
Isnt he already committed and in lockstep with a 'side' (nevermind that the GOP 'side' is completely fractured and incoherent)? Heaven forbid that a member of one party even tolerate a merber of the other party...
Again we see that our politicians care more about Party than they do about Country.
Weeper Boehner's opinion and endorsement is as valuable as the junk assets on Wall Street's books.
Ashik Jamnadas said elsewhere that "The Republican party needs to take a real look at Huntsman." Just how far out of touch can YOU get? No, Ashik, it is YOU that needs to take a real look at your [R] party. If you don't think today's [R]ightwing band of idiots has passed you by and veered off the road to the right, then you should get with the program already and jump onto their dysfunctional band wagon and start to enjoy the ride into delusional oblivion. Stupid is as stupid does....and despite all the evidence about the vapid [R] party in front of you, for you to continue to hopelessly wish that someone as nominally functional as Huntsman would actually win the [R] nomination is clinically delusional, and quite STUPID.
he will not be re-elected, so does anyone really want his endorsement?
Actually, all the candidates asked him NOT to endorse any of them.

I'm shocked that I agree with you about some things. You also said something about caring for the environment.
That's two. Anyway, didn't Eric Cantor set up the House calendar "because he thought they should spend
more time with their constituents"? Smokescreen to hide from passing any legislation for sure, but maybe
Boehner gets a pass on this one. Maybe not.
Given that congressional republicans are heading for a 100% disapproval rate rather quickly, any endorsement from this loser would be a liability.
Haven't seen the human traffic cone in the news much. Now that he's back, I realize I didn't miss him at all. In fact, it was nice!
Boehner likes Obama personally and hates the tea party altogether. Its unfortunate he doesn't have the guts to say it.
I think he will endorse Romney....Just watch this...Boehner is a great guy and he will do what's best for the country!!!!
"It is time to mount a nation wide election to place term limits on Congress, force them to actually work and earn their pay, by setting minimum work year standards, and to not permit them to raise their own salaries. The public should have to VOTE on whether they deserve an increase in salary!"
Man the neo-tards are out in full-swing today! Its like shooting flightless ducks!
Another strict constitutional constructionist speaks!!! You morons of the right do know what HYPOCRISY is, right?
"he will not be re-elected, so does anyone really want his endorsement?"
Good question. It raises the spectre of what the GOPers/Teatrolls are really doing in the first place: destroying the public opinion of and confidence in Congress and the federal gov't itself ON PURPOSE. Given that Congress has sunk to 9% approval and the GOP's/Teatrolls' refusal to let Congress and the POTUS actually do anything other than squabble, let alone govern effectively, it's probably not going to be many of the GOPer/Teatroll conrgesscritters endorsing one candidate or the other....they're just too hated for what they're doing to the federal gov't in order to be able to claim that the federal gov't is broken and blame Obama for nothing getting done about the economy.
The Media is doing their best to keep this fight against Romeny and Perry since they know neither is what real republicans want. But sooner or later you wont be able to stop the actual voters. What wilL you do when Herman Cain or Ron Paul wins Iowa? will the story still be Romney Vs. Perry?
John is one smart guy. Let the process work itself out. He knows, as most do, that it will be Romney/Cain that will toss Obama out of the Whitehouse in 2012.
I think a Boehner endorsement in 2012 may turn out to be as valuable as George W Bush campaign appearnaces and endorsements were in 2008. The same will probably hold true for McConnell, Cantor, and Ryan.
