Through the laughs, Cain defends his serious side

(CNN) - Herman Cain assured supporters he was "in it to win it" Friday morning on a campaign stop in Alabama, a state that doesn't hold its primary until March 13.

"I wouldn't be running if I didn't believe we could take back our government," Cain said, answering critics who've asked if his campaign was serious enough to hold onto his sudden front-runner status. "I wouldn't be running if I didn't believe we wouldn't get the Republican nomination."

CNN Poll: Support for Afghanistan war at all time low

Washington (CNN) - As the war in Afghanistan passes the ten-year mark, a new national survey indicates that support for the conflict has dropped to an all time low as a growing number of Americans express concern that the situation in the central Asian country has turned into another Vietnam.

According to a CNN/ORC International Poll released Friday, only 34% of the public says they support the war in Afghanistan, one point less than the previous low of 35%, with 63% opposed to the conflict.

Johnson rushes to file New Hampshire paperwork

Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN) - Heading off an embarrassing blunder, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson will file his paperwork for candidacy in New Hampshire's primary Friday - the day of the filing deadline.

Johnson almost missed his chance to appear on the first-in-the-nation primary ballot. When the campaign realized Thursday that Johnson's paperwork was in danger of not being filed, the governor took a plane up from Arizona so he could sign the papers in person, according to press spokesman Elizabeth Renda.
