Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - Ron Paul has won two separate tallies for the National Federation of Republican Assemblies Presidential Straw Poll.
Paul won both the Iowa-voters-only count at the Saturday convention in Des Moines as well as a tally of non-Iowans who participated.
In the Iowa voters result, Paul took 82%. Following him were Herman Cain with 14.7%, Rick Santorum with 1%, Newt Gingrich with 0.9%, Michele Bachmann with 0.5%, Rick Perry with 0.5%, Gary Johnson with 0.2%, with Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman 0%.
The total number of votes cast in that tally was 430.
In the tally of non-Iowans who voted, Paul won 26% followed by Cain at 25%, Perry and Santorum tied at 16%, Gingrich at 11%, Bachmann at 6%, Romney at 1%, and Huntsman and Johnson with 0%.
The total number of votes cast in that count was 101.
Though Paul won both tallies, the NFRA has not yet officially endorsed a candidate. Delegates to the convention will decide that later Saturday.
I voted for Obama... but I would vote for Ron Paul if he wins the primaries!!!
Remember this!!!!!! If Ron Paul runs as a third party you might as well just vote for Obama.
Did anyone notice that the "top tier" Mitt Ronmney got 0 percent of the votes? This is the guy that all the "experts" are calling a lock?
comon everybody join the liberty movement. its a great experience and youll learn a lot
Paul needs to drop the GoP. They are really holding him back. Dems are sick of their party atm because of getting Bush lite instead of change.
Funny how Fox hasn't mentioned ONE word of this but is plastering Herman Cain winning in Alabama (by only 20 votes mind you AND Ron Paul didn't even SHOW UP)
IF Herman Cain would've won this straw poll, it would be EVERYWHERE. And those saying Ron Paul just bused in voters...so does all the rest of the candidates. MSNBC reported Herman Cain's crew purchased 250 tickets in Iowa and were GIVING THEM OUT FOR FREE!!! But they had an envelope full when it was said and done....says something when people won't even take FREE tickets.
This just shows you two things:....that straw polls are a USELESS indicator of agreement, and HOW STUPID Iowa is
Ron paul has officially won more straw polls than any other candidate... he has won 14, and Cain trails with 12... None even come close.
Wow...he got 82% of a whooping 430 votes!
Yawn. More poll-packing of tiny, meaningless venues by the Ronulans. Back in reality, Luap Nor continues to poll in the low single digits, where he will remain.
Ron Paul 2012! As a true liberal I endorse Ron Paul for president!
if this was any other candidate it would be headline news. alas, the people's choice is more powerful the corporate media. the establishment is scared as hell. Ron Paul IS the frontrunner, believe it, not what they tell you.
Mainstream media keeps pushing him under the rug... Name any other candidate to have more top finishes then RON PAUL. nO one... Stop being bias media report the truth.. Stop protecting your candidate choices.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please keep moving there is nothing to see here. Straw Polls don't mean anything.....unless a different candidate wins and then it is frontpage news! Lol. Ron Paul 2012!!!
Pretty soon he will be President.. and nobody will know because the media will still be trying to make you believe that Cain is President!
I hate Ron Paul. How could he have been a doctor and not be fighting for a health care plan that would insure everyone (like all modern countries have)? Ron Paul is the type of person who only thinks of getting ahead and doesn't care who he steps on or leaves behind. That type of America would die a short, painful death.
Bye, Bye! Michelle Bachmann, Ron Paul, Herman Cain, Newt Guinrich, Mitt Romney, and ALL of the rest!! Looks like the ole "work horse" won this race!!
Ron Paul is the real front runner! The people are seeing through the mainstream media smoke screen. Paul is polling top 3 in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. He will capture this nomination!!!!
I used to think Ron Paul had some sense, but when he said uninsured people should just die, I tuned out! Also, his son Rands proposal for MediCare is down right scary! I think Obama will stay for the next4! None of the GOP-TP contenders are viable! They have too many extreme points of view!!
Ron Paul needs a sparkley partner – Palin and Paul would be pretty flashy in 2012 and Mit's deep-pocket'd Nixon era conglomerate underwriting the roll. Lets also see how the candidates slam each other in the primaries that injures them in the ballot box. A lot of Libertarians still avoid the Repubican GOP because of the Drug War and people like Joe Arpaio...
YAY! I am from SW Iowa but I couldn't make it so I'm so glad to hear it! Keep it up Dr Paul!!!
AnyNationalPress: "Sooner or later they will have no choice but to mention Dr. Paul as a heavy weight GOP contender."
Ron Paul has consistently won the most straw polls (of real voters using real votes). And when Ron Paul starts having the same consistent GOP Primaries' wins (by landslides), the mainstream media is going to freak out. [laughs]
Ron Paul will win 2012. Get ready for it. 🙂
Ron Paul all the way. Lets make it happen im so excited things will be looking up. RON PAUL 2012.
The neo-con and the liberal media will "BLACK OUT" Ron Paul the win and say Cain wins second. What ashame, america needs help and Ron Paul is just that doctor to help the country, but just like a little child when giving cough meds. they (americans) turn away in protest of taking what will curse them. America, if Ron Paul does't get the GOP nod, you get what you ask for.
Vote for the 0-0-0 plan:
Zero FED
Zero IRS
Zero WAR
Ron Paul 2012!
