Cain continues fundraising streak amid harassment claims

(CNN) - Herman Cain's campaign boasted a second gangbusters fundraising day Tuesday, saying in a release they had raised more than $400,000, enough to beat their single-day fundraising record.

The previous record was set Monday, when the campaign reported taking in $400,000. The campaign did not specify how much higher Tuesday's totals were from Monday's.

In a statement Wednesday, Cain chief-of-staff said the increased support would help the campaign move forward.

"This swelling of public support will help Herman continue spreading his message of real leadership and real problem solving across the country," Block said.

Block also took the opportunity to reiterate his claim that Texas Gov. Rick Perry's campaign was behind leaks to the media about the past sexual harassment claims.

"Since Politico released an attack story based on anonymous accusers, which was almost certainly provided to them by the Rick Perry campaign, Mr. Cain has taken the honorable path – he has been upfront and honest with the American people," Block said.

–CNN's Kevin Bohn contributed to this report.

Of course he continues his fundraising streak; the false charges have fueled his popularity.

that's not really a lot of money, considering the expense this campaign is running up. think in terms of the idea one settlement is $50,000 (adjusted for inflation). and his campaign is connected to the Koch Brothers. so no, he didn't really do that well.

Upfront and honest with what he can remember. Problem is his memory is short. People remember lawsuits. Unless you have had so many it's blurred the memory. Either way not so good. People gave lots of money to Barry Madoff thinking to get something in return. You know what they say about suckers!!

Mr. Cain is raising money from this "Scandal Smear"campaign running against him. I don't like it. Folks don't like it. Something that happened nearly 15 years ago. He said she said, now anybody can say. It stinks we have more important things to be concerned about. Go support Cain with $9.99 to thumb your nose at "The Man".

I'm not nearly as concearned about who leaked the information on Cain as I am about who tried to cover it up. He is trying to run as a non-politician but when confronted with this so called non-story he reacted right out of Sarah's playbook of deflect, deny & blame.

We all make mistakes in our lives. I can tell you the first candidate that says "Yes, I smoked pot when I was younger and I enjoyed it but grew out of it" will get my vote.

He "can't remember"? That's the biggest bunch of crap I've heard in my life. He needs to get real with himself; and voters need to see him for what he is, not what he says. No thanks, Herman, better sharpen those pizza-making skills.

WOW – $400,000. I'm pretty sure President Obama fund raises that in the space of 5 minutes. If it comes down two African Americans running for President, I'll vote for the handscome, intelligent, charismatic, compassionate one that we already have in office and not the smart assed, inexperienced, foolish eyesore on the Republican side.

    President Obama 2.0 – 2012
