Senate Democrats offer veterans jobs bill, without millionaire's surtax

Washington (CNN) - Senate Democrats proposed Friday tax incentives for businesses hiring veterans as well as job training for all service members leaving the military.

The measure was unveiled as the next piece in President Obama's jobs bill and as a remedy to unemployment among veterans.

So the GOP asking the rich to pay a little more on this part of the President's job bill is out of the question also I guess.

Spending initiatives, no matter how well intentioned, have to be pronounced NO, as the Dems have already squandered so much money, there is no room to squander more.

They will probably vote that down. The only way to purge both Houses is to vote the Republicans out of office. That is the only way this country will survive. They want to take us back to the 50's with no voting rights, no freedom of expression (unless it is them) and every other deed that brought shame to America during the Jim Crow Days. I am surprised that Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, Graham are not waiving the Confederate Flag they certainly express it every opportunity they can.

I'm sure the terrorist GOP reps will agree after they attach all sorts of safety, environmental regulation killing amendments, increased corporate tax breaks for the 1% to it which will certainly be a bill killer. I only hope that the majority of Americans will wake up and vote these clowns out in 2012. In office for 300 days and no substaintial job bills from the GOP but we did get Abortion legisation, confirmation on "In God We Trust", and a few trade agreements. To the voters who elected these tea party terrorsist "How's this new Change working for ya?" unemployed, no healthcare, no unemployment benefits, reduction in teachers, fire fighers and police. You got what you asked for

Republicans will never, ever, ever, not ever agree to anything that they believe will help the economy because it will help President Obama. Even if the nation's economy tanks and sends us into a complete depression, they don't care. They care only about destroying President Obama. Mitch McConnell said it, loud and clear. They're #1 goal is to defeat Obama. They're #1 goal is not about improving the economy, moving the nation forward, helping our Veterans, defeating terrorists, improving education for our children and future generations....NO, they're #1 goal is to bring down Obama. They're #2 goal is to protect they're corporate donors. Could they possibly make it any more clear? I don't think so.

Now Republicans wont vote for it because they will say "the gov't doesnt have a way to pay for it", "Obama is just running up the debt", and "Stimulus 2.0". The Millionare surtax would only BARELY raise taxes on people whose wages are over 1 milllion dollars/year not just millionares. I dont understand how anybody could ever vote Republican. They are choosing people who get 1 million+ per year over war vets.......

Democrats stand for nothing. Why should anyone vote them. Republicans stand on principles.

I support this program 100 percent! Although it's likely a political maneuver by Senate Democrats, our returning GI's deserve job opportunities. The honest beliefs of Liberal Democrats will appear in coming days if the super committee in Congress can't deliver a spending reduction plan. If an impasse occurs, our Democratic leaders will force massive cuts to our Military. That is where their true colors will appear!

  12. "The GOP biggest deception is getting the Poor and Middle class to believe they are out to help them"

OKAY, I get what the Democrats are trying to do when they strip bills of things that the GOP will not pass, but give me a break. They need to stand up to them and show the Public exactly, what the GOP is doing in Congress!!! Good Grief!!! Stand on your ground!!! The American People have said over and over that those who have more should pay more in TAXES, it is time for you people to listen!!! If the GOP does not follow what the people want then put them on BLAST for it!!! Show them to people what a mockery they make of Democracy and not doing what the people want!! HOW HARD IS THAT?
