BLITZER’S BLOG: Will open-mic comments hurt U.S.-Israeli relations?

Obama is clueless! Simply clueless. It is time we get a President who knows friend from foe. Israel is our ally and we need to stand by her as a friend.

We were told the media did not report this because the conversation was private. Sounds more like they were covering up.

    Frank –
Being allies doesn’t mean you have to be friends. In fact, throughout history, Allies have rarely ever been friends. I don’t see what is wrong in what President Obama said. The majority of the dialog between Israel and the rest of the world – does in fact occur primarily between the United States and Israel. The United States will always stand by Israel – even as they thumb their noses at the United States and the United Nations and continue to build their illegal settlements, among other things supported with American dollars.

If we can get through Wikileaks we'll be just fine with this.

Frank, stop being clueless. I guess it is the President's fault that Sarkozy made the comment.

    Finally, Obama opened the closet.

Great job for telling the truth.

Somebody needs to put it bluntly to Israel. I am tired of this issue. when we asked them to stop building those settlements they defied the U.S. meanwhile, We are still giving them military and financial support. But when it comes to make the slightest concession they refused.

Sarkozy and Obama are two of a kind. Two political elitists stating their true feelings. Neither Israel or anyone else is surprised since Obama bashes them every chance he gets. They look like a couple of effete snobs they are in that picture. Giants of the middle class who have never even had dirt on their hands – they make me sick.

US foreign policy vis a vis Israel is too forward leaning in favor of Israel. I believe the latest incident ought to be rephrased:
Will the French President's remark hurt Franco-Israeli relations???

President Obama responded fairly accurately and sincerely when he said he ( the US) has to deal with the Israeli leader all the time. The French need not, but the US because of the "artificially" created "special relationship with Israel" has to do it. Which brings me to think, why do we have to.

What's the big deal? President Obama does have to work with Netanyahu more than Sarkozy does. That's what he
said, that is true, so get over it.

The most difficult foreign policy decision obama has to make fell to him today. Iran is building nukes. If iran builds a nuke on his watch you can be assured that what he allowed to happen will go down in infamy. We are please that he got ben ladin but mr president iran getting a nuke on your watch will erase all of that. He needs to make sure that this doesn't happen. He also needs to let iran know in no uncertain term that they have gone far enough and will be allowed to go no further. If he destroys their nukes potential his sarcastic remarks about israels prime minister may be overlooked. Americas security depends on iran not having nukes for if iran ever gets nukes america and the world will never be safe again. Iran is not north korea.
