(CNN) - Ohio voters will repeal a controversial law Tuesday limiting the collective-bargaining rights of public workers, CNN projects based on reported results.
The measure was a referendum on state Senate bill 5, the latest in a showdown between union groups, business leaders and lawmakers over the ways state governments negotiate with their employees.

this was nothing but posturing for a presidential run in 2016 from John Kasich.
Kasich knew the law was garbage,he just wanted something to show the right wingers
Here is what happens next: Democrats take a very arrogant view of this win by becoming what they despised. The governor probably over-reached by not participating in dialogue when given the chance. Dem's will do exactly the same (ala Obamacare-esque tactics) by ramming through some sort of legislation when they return to power in a few years (because it will no doubt happen at some point as the pendulum swings).
This win does prove Ohio voters have no idea what they are voting for at the polls.
very sad day for free enterprise... unions kill competitive power of this nation... communists, socialists and mafia run these organizations... i never see decent working union person... sad so sad... especially government employees whom do not create so much value have these rights... it is out right crazy... Greece is the prime example of union work... they want more and more without thinking the consequences...
Be afraid regressives – very afraid.
The problem is not with our teachers, librarians, firefighters, and police officers. They didn't cause the economic meltdown. Those who did still get millions every year in bonuses, but somehow we're okay with that.
... and the pendulum begins the return to sanity. this is a referendum on all that has decimated the american dream and the middle class. good show!
good for ohio an the working class.
The people of Ohio seem to want some kind of balance of power between Big Corporations and Big Labor.. The politicians are for sale to the highest bidder.
Good job Ohio take you bargaining rights back tell the government that's your right as working Americans to bargain how becareful your government will try something
Ohio be on your toes your government will try anything to put a law on the books to change your vote I've seen it done before slip it into a bill and never tell it's in a bill as a rider
As a resident of OHIO, I am so proud of the citizens of this state.
We rejected the republican governors attempt to further diminish the middle class.
I look forward to voting against Gov. Kasich in 3 years.
from those of us in Wisconsin to Ohio Congrats!!! Wewill remove our own pig here and his last name is Walker!
Should be clear by now that the TP/Reps need to open their minds and ears and learn how to govern ALL the people, not just engage in their divide & conquer class-warfare. (Sorry, Faux News, you'll have to take a back seat now.)
Why do they have such difficulty negotiating? I thought we were in this together.
Next target: disenfranchisement of voters (Democratic-leaning, of course.)
This is great news for workers in Georgia!
I am so proud of Ohio. Let's remember this in 2012!
Just when I'd given up hope, reason prevails!
People need to watch the Grapes of Wrath to see how America was transformed into the great country that it is. I defy anybody then to say unions are a bad thing. They try to protect your basic rights and safety, dignity and moral rights. The unions fought for the forty hour week, health insurance, overtime and the right not to work overtime. They also fought for pensions. The ceos have pensions why not the worker? Every thing has a few bad apples and they are soon weeded out. The unions also fought for a safe workplace and the breaks you get today. Sh!t on the unions and you are sh!!ting on your selves.....P.S. They are also the reason most of you are making what you are today, including minimum wage....
Good Job, Ohio.
Could the tide be turning? Have we seen the high-water mark of the extreme right-wing movement? We won't know for sure until this time next year, but we can hope.
Take that Tea Party, the 99% is coming to remove you from office in 2012 and make sure you don't take our country back again!
