BREAKING: House rejects balanced budget amendment
Washington (CNN) - The Republican-controlled House of Representatives on Friday rejected a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution - a setback to GOP leaders and conservative activists who claim the measure is necessary to end the federal government's spiraling deficit spending.
A total of 261 members voted for the measure - 29 votes shy of the two-thirds majority required for passage - while 165 members opposed it.

No surprise here. The Senate would not have passed this bill. No real work is being done by this session of Congress or its subsidiary, the Super Committee. Best possible outcome: Let the Bush tax cuts expire and hope for the best from the next Congress.

Most libs don't pay taxes. I know many of them and they are perfectly happy not having to do so.We do that for them. Most of them are the 48% of people that live off of the rest of us. How does feel to never pay any taxes? You all just love freeloading on the 52% that actually do pay taxes!
Republicans are amazingly persistent. All of them should have been mail carriers because neither facts, nor polls, nor the obvious reality of election results will uproot them from their self-annointed grounds.

You really need to stop repeating what you just heard on conservative radio without verifying the veracity of what you have heard. Do you believe everything that you hear? Just because someone throws numbers out there doesn't mean they are true?
Remember the Senator (what was his name, I can see his face, he's always standing behind McConnell) several months back who claimed that 95% of Planned Parenthood dollars are spent on abortions? When it was pointed out to him that the actual figure was 2% spent on abortion *counseling*, not actual abortion procedures, his office stated that his words were not meant to be factually accurate.
His words had been put into the official congressional record, then later edited and revised without the percentage citation. This rewrite was performed by House Republicans because that lie was just to openly blatant to be left on the record.
