
(CNN) - One month after sparking a controversy over his stance against abortion rights, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is signing a leading social conservative group's anti-abortion pledge.
Tuesday the businessman and former Godfather's Pizza CEO and radio talk show host put his name to the Susan B. Anthony List's "Pro-Life Presidential Leadership Pledge."

New York (CNNMoney) - The congressional debt committee's failure likely won't be a disaster for the markets or the economy. But it is a warning signal to both.
"The failure does illustrate yet again the inability of Congress to take the tough decisions to put the federal finances on a sustainable path over the medium term," Capital Economics said in a research note.

Among other concerns, the group is not sure Cain is "knowledgeable or equipped" on foreign policy, and is worried about Paul's advocacy of states' rights regarding abortion and marriage.

(CNN) - GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney on Monday dropped a name for a possible running mate should he secure his party's nomination.
"There are probably 15 names of people, including (New Hampshire Sen.) Kelly Ayotte," Romney said in an interview on Fox News. "I mean, there are terrific Republicans in the Senate, in the House, in governors' offices."

Washington (CNN) - As he prepares to debate his fellow GOP candidates on national security matters, former House speaker Newt Gingrich unveiled a national security advisory team today that features some recognizable names from past administrations.
R. James Woolsey, a former Director of the C.I.A. under President Clinton, and Robert McFarlane, who served as National Security Advisor for President Reagan are part of a team of 13 advisors who will advise Gingrich on a variety of national security topics as the campaign goes forward.

(CNN) – Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann is banking on another victory in Iowa, and this one will be an upset.
In a Tuesday interview on CNN's "American Morning," Bachmann said 70% of voters are still undecided about who they'll support for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination and the "flux" of the race could be a boon for her.

(CNN) - When presidential candidates head to New Hampshire the November before an election year, it's a pretty safe bet the upcoming campaign is on their minds.
But that's not the case with President Obama, who travels to Manchester later Tuesday, White House spokesman Jay Carney insists. In fact, Carney maintained the quick trip north has nothing to do with 2012 at all. Rather, the visit is merely a continuation of the series of stops the president has made across the country since September to sell his jobs bill.
