Romney ad means Dems are worried, says Pawlenty

(CNN) – Team Romney sought to refute an attack ad from the Democratic National Committee on Monday by painting the former Massachusetts governor as the right choice to what they call President Barack Obama's wrong choice for America.

In a conference call with reporters, former presidential candidate and Romney supporter Tim Pawlenty said Democrats and the Obama campaign are zeroing in on Romney in an effort to tear the frontrunner down before the general election.

Texas asks high court to temporarily block redistricting map

(CNN) - Texas officials are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to step in and temporarily block a controversial congressional redistricting plan from going into effect Monday.

The state's attorney general, Greg Abbott, filed an emergency "application" with the justices, saying a map approved by a federal panel in San Antonio is "fatally flawed." It would increase the number of districts dominated by minorities, especially Hispanic voters.

Bush tax cuts: The real endgame

New York (CNNMoney) - Congress has a way of waiting to the very last minute to resolve big issues, so December is usually a busy month on Capitol Hill. This year will be no exception. But next year? Next year will be no exception on steroids.

This December, for example, lawmakers will have to decide, among other things, whether to extend the payroll tax cut, long-term unemployment benefits, the Medicare "doc fix," Alternative Minimum Tax relief and a bevy of business tax breaks.
