2012ers respond to Cain allegation

(CNN) – Some of the Republican presidential candidates responded Tuesday to the charge that Herman Cain engaged in a lengthy extramarital affair, with rival Jon Huntsman issuing the strongest reaction.

Huntsman, the former Utah governor, said Cain should consider exiting the 2012 race for the White House.

"You've got to be reconsidering just based on how we have lost focus on the issues that really do matter," Huntsman told the Boston Globe Tuesday. "Every time another accusation comes up, it diminishes our ability to stay focused on the issues that really do matter for the American people."

"And I think that's a disservice to the voters," Huntsman added.

On Monday, Atlanta businesswoman Ginger White accused Cain of having had an affair with her that lasted nearly 14 years, a claim Cain immediately denied. But the former pizza executive and radio talk show host, who faced accusations of sexual harassment earlier in the month, told his staff Tuesday he is "reassessing" the viability of his campaign. One top campaign source told CNN he expects a decision "within a few days."

Fellow candidate and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann responded to the news, saying the campaign seems to be assessing their support in the wake of the allegations. She added that the revelation is yet another example she is the "consistent conservative in the race."

"As people have been shopping around for candidates they're going to come back home to see I've been the consistent constitutional conservative who's going to fight," Bachmann told WHO Radio in Des Moines, Iowa.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who has admitted to engaging in romantic relationships outside his marriages in the past, said it is a difficult situation for Cain and his family.

"I hope that he reaches whatever is the right decision for them," Gingrich told reporters in Bluffton, South Carolina Tuesday. "I think it's his decision to make. And he has to do what he thinks is best."

  1. It is sad

Please listen to Mr Cains lawyer. Personal affairs are off limits during a presidential campaign. So the fact that Mr Cain is more or less a pimp daddy, and Perry likes guys better then girls, and Bachmann has a husband who finds Perry attractive and Ginrich has settled on one women until his campaign is over... is off limits... shouldn't be mentioned... just forget you heard or read it. Ignore them little man behind the curtains.

"I'm reassessing the viability of my campaign" – Herman Cain

Herman, let me reassess that for you: Uh, where is that campaign? I could swear I saw it around her somewhere. Hmm, oh well. Anybody hungry for a pizza?

The Republican party needs to take a time-out, like the misbehaving children they are, and decide what they want to be when they grow up. If they can grow up, that is. Do these people appear to be seriously concerned about anyone but themselves, and the corporations and billionaires who pay their way? Do you really believe they care about you or your family? This primary season is undoubtedly the most depressing, disturbing exhibition of insensitivity and selfish behavior in our country's history. We should all be ashamed.

Snd this is the best that the Republican Party has to offer the American people as a possible Commander in Chief.....it would be funny if it wasn’t so darn sad.

Reverend Cain. Have you been unfaithful to your wife? Have you sexually harassed employees and job seekers? Have you lied about it? Have you thus made your wife out to be a fool? Did you get caught? BLAME YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone seriously believe that Cain is the least bit serious about a presidential run? His campaign has been nothing but a promotional tour from the start, meant to push his book and inflate speaking fees and lead to a Fox "News" show. It's all about the brand. You know, sort of like that self-absorbed lady from Alaska. Cain probably was frightened as he climbed in the polls. He's looking for a way out, and the timing looks pretty good now.

"BIG HYPOCRITES" every one of them. Party of the values and family my big toe. Sure Newt you can ask for forgiveness for your past transgressions and so can you Cain. My question is why do it in the first place? If this is what being a conservative is, I am so glad that I am "Brainwashed" per Herman Cain.

@ Dominican mama for Obama –

    You tell him, Mama!
    God don't like ugly!

I hope you don't see him in hell... only people like him ought to be there...
That means...Sarah Palin, Gingrich, Bachman, Romney...all of the GOP politicians who use God to bamboozle well-meaning Christian folks!

    God will not be mocked!

Cain did not deny having an affair with this person, he only said he did not have a 13 year affair. Cain crafted his words to Blitz when he said he did not have a 13 year affair with Ginger White.

He knows that he cheated, just in denial. That lady was not fooling around with a married man for 13 years for nothing. He was definitely treating her well for her to stay around that long.

This is just a prime example of how arrogance and incompetence can destroy you. To be honest, Cain had no intentions of really becoming president. He merely expected to pimp the public like Palin and strike while the iron was hot by extracting as much cash from gullible people as possible. He did not anticipate such a weak bunch of GOP candidates that even he could become the forerunner. Unfortunate for him, he did become the forerunner and that's when stuff hit the fan. Once he became head honcho, unequipped Cain did not realize he would have to be vetted and his past would become his present and the demise of his fake campaign. The real loser, however, in this debacle is not Cain but his poor wife. Looks like she will be voting once again for president Obama!

"My name is Cain, so I'm ready for a hurricane". It would be one heck of an algebraic equation figuring out how many different ways Cain has fit his foot into his mouth. By the way "Newt": how do you or Cain plan on winning the presidency without the female vote?

Though am not a fan of Cain but to believe every woman who comes with claims is totally absurd. In case of Tiger Wood at least there was evidence of his voice on one of the woman's phone. Where is the evidence about Cain?
Being judgemental without any concrete proof is a big offense!

Why are we surprised ?..... the GOP lineup for president looks like the entire cast escaped from JEFF DUNHAM's trunk. Herman Cain is Sweet Daddy Dee, Newt is Walter, Perry is Bubba J, Romney is Melvin, Bachman is Diane, Huntsman is peanut, Ron Paul is Achmed the dead terrorist and Santorum is his son Achmed Jr. I LOVE AMERICAN POLITICS.

Typical of Huntsman. Never turn your back to this guy. I'm no Cain supporter but Huntsman is a sly and calculating backstabber. This is one reason, I can never get behind him. I hope he stays down in the polls and never recovers.

What a group of losers. The I sell weapons to Iran mormon telling somebody else what to do because of his personal life.
These issues come up because the party of the "moral majority" is neither. The ratio of cheating and scandals and looking for men in the bathrooms or taking "helpers" on trips to Italy are greater than in the Democratic party.
