Iowa governor says Gingrich has work to do

Orlando (CNN) - Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, the Hawkeye State's top political handicapper, said Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich still has some serious spadework to do if he hopes to win the GOP nomination.

Though Gingrich has vaulted to the top of state and national polls, Branstad told CNN Wednesday that the former House speaker has not built a strong enough organization to win the caucuses in January.

Gingrich only opened his first campaign office on Wednesday.

"He may be ahead in the polls, but can he deliver?" Branstad asked. "That's the question I have."

He also said Gingrich must develop a singular campaign message, instead of haphazardly rattling off new policy ideas on a near daily basis, as he is prone to do.

"Gingrich has benefited from taking on some of the gotcha questions and from being an idea person," Branstad said. "But in the end you have to have a message. It's a genuine good question to ask of Gingrich. Can he maintain it in light of that fact?"

Branstad made the comments in Orlando, where he was attending the Republican Governors Association annual meeting.

That man just described Gingrich to a tee. That is the fabric of who and what Newt Gingrich is. He's a firebrand and a lightning rod. He's soldier, not a leader. Gingrich needs something to aim his destructive beams because he is incapable of focusing it himself. If Gingrich were POTUS, then the only thing to stop Gingrich is his Gringrich, which he simply cannot do. I still think Gingrich will implode if you just simply keep pushing microphones and cameras in his face.

Gingrich will put an end to child labor laws, and that will move him up to the top in Iowa. Newter wants an end to the minimum wage, 40 hour work week, paid holidays, government safety regulations. I think we now see why Newt is soaring like a salamander with the crazy right wingnuts.

The only ting he's treated more haphazardly than his policy positions are his previous wives( Callista, are you taking notes?).

I really don't underside how these teabag clowns can get elected to office in any state. The people say, we need more revenue tax the rich a little more, by like a 80% margin, DEMS and republican and they still won't do it. I guess anybody that sign that pledge to rover nitwitquest should be looking for a new job right about now.

Gingrich stands for everything the right-wing stands for, no morals, no ethics, no family values, no honesty, no compassion, no intelligence, no respect, no integrity, no patriotism, no equality, no compromising, no soul.

Sorry Newt, not only are you an adulterer but so is your golddigging wifey-poo. That just won't cut the muster with the religious right of this state, they tend to go with their own kind ala Mike Hucklberry.
