Washington (CNN) - Mitt Romney met with former President George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara Thursday at their Houston-area home. Romney aides say the get together was not about seeking an endorsement, and the two are friends.
Romney's quick trip to Texas came on the same day fellow candidate and the state's governor Rick Perry was in California. Perry became governor when Bush's son, George W. Bush, was elected president.
Former George W. Bush partisans have been critical of the Perry campaign.
OMG – We already have Perry in the race who "acts" like GW Bush; now another candidate that might get and "endorsement" from a Bush??? That's two down and NEWTron might get the nomination after all!!!
BRING IT ON!!
Obama 2012!!
Conservatives like to spin the line that HW didn't get re-elected because he raised taxes after utterning his now infamous line, "Read mylips. No new taxes." No, he lost because he called "trickle down economics" "voodoo economics". Thanks, Mr. President, for telling the truth, which is the ultimate sin in conservative political circles.
Where is Perry in California ?
Good thing about being a retired President – it doesn't matter who you meet with. Do you wonder why more Republicans haven't endorsed any of the GOP candidates. I'll tell you because they do not want any debris from these candidates political disasters sticking to them in 2012. Probably the smartest political decision the Republicans have made and of course all in the name of self preservation.
That's says it all. Vote for Romney, you get Bush again.
Meeting with G.W. Bush?
This is a doom sealer for Mitt the 'flip-flopper. He's already declining in the polls and his lack of judgement in meeting with this negative figure isn't helping at all. How can any serious candidate want to meet with the worse president in US history?
Isn't this saying something about Mitt Romney. This man simply cannot be trusted as the republican nominee.
You know Mitt; he crawls into a lot of different beds. Is there such a thing as political polygamy?
I wish people would get the record straight snd quit saying that george w. bush was elected. he was not he was selected by five far right activist judges.
President GHW Bush and Barbara Bush are two Republicans I would consider an honor to meet. I respect both of
them.
He met with the first president Bush. Not George W.
Every time they counted the ballots Bush came out ahead. Judges are "activists" when they vote against Liberal interests, aren't they? Newt worked with Bubba on several issues, including welfare reform. Obama refuses to work with the other side on ANY important matter, including jobs packages, and tweaking the health law before it goes into disastrous effect.
