Huntsman and Gingrich agree to debate

Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN) - Two men who would like to unseat long-time New Hampshire front-runner Mitt Romney will sit down for a one-on-one debate in the state later this month.

Jon Huntsman and Newt Gingrich have agreed to a Lincoln-Douglas style match-up, with both participants going head-to-head on a range of issues.

The event is designed to give undecided voters a close look at candidates who are not Mitt Romney - a known quantity in New Hampshire who has deep ties to the state and has made winning here a priority.

The debate is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 12.

Gingrich previously debated Herman Cain in a similar event. Gingrich has repeatedly stated that if he becomes the Republican nominee he would challenge President Obama to a series of similarly structured debates.

Newt he isn't worth the time, effort, or expense, do not even give him the time of day. Tell him to take his daughters and his campaign to Pahrump, Nevada as they may get more votes there, at least the male votes.

ginGRINCH is dying to debate with President Obama in a "Lincoln-Douglas" style – he keeps repeating it and he wants it to DRILL into his supporters head. His goal is to drill it so much – the media et. al will offer it and President Obama would not be able to back out.

Hmm, the problem with this – ginGRINCH will never make it to the General and if he did – it does not matter what style the debate is in because President Obama will mop the floor with him!!!

We better watch the GRINCH, though, because this might be his way to get Huntsman on the chart and possible he would take the 2nd spot and push Huntsman.... this GRINCH is a sly fox!!!

This is going to be very interesting and entertaining! As a former Indep. turned Dem. I admire Huntsman even though I could never vote for another Rep. (thanks to Demented Demint & Joe "loud mouth" Wilson). Huntsman is far too bright and a gentleman to get in the gutter with Newt. He'll be able to slay the dragon and it will be some 2 days later that Newt
    realizes he's been had.

Huntsman is a stand-in for obama. Their agenda is the same so this will be practice time for Newt, although Huntsman is probably smarter than obama.

AlaskaPalin are you kidding? We libs are hoping and praying Newt wins – we'd have fun watching him self-destruct and we could save all that money we'd otherwise have to donate to Pres. Obama. Please please pick Newt & then throw us in the brier patch.

We're about to see what happens when a stupid mans idea of what a smart man sounds like(the newt) meets an actual smart man. I hope that the moderator makes him answer the actual questions being debated and not the ones Newt hears in his head.

Why can't they put Ron Paul up against Mitt Romney?

Now THAT would be a fun debate to watch.

Yes, Yes, YES. I've been waiting for Huntsman to have a good opportunity to shine! Let's hope he makes the best of it. Huntsman is the only republican candidate that stands a chance of pulling my vote to the right.

This is one debate I actually look forward to watching.

    @AlaskaPalin

I'm sorry you interbed a cynical sense of humor towards the GOP as hate. From now on I will do my best to look at both party' s narcissistic abnormalities
As for Obama , no man is an Island. And you must admit he's done a much more professional job then his predecessor.

Only love can conquer hate , love ya
