Washington (CNN) – President Obama announced Friday the federal government and private sector partners will invest $4 billion over the next two years in energy upgrades to buildings across the country, an initiative the White House says will create several thousand new construction jobs.
The president made the announcement on the top floor of a building currently under renovation and only steps from the White House with former President Bill Clinton at his side. The collaboration is part of the White House’s “We Can’t Wait” campaign – a series of executive orders Obama has issued over the last two months without congressional involvement.
FULL STORY
Clinton-Obama link-up and talking about Washington spending more to make buildings, etc energy efficient..At this point in the political arena this joint-move sounds more a benefit to Obamas' re-election than growing the economy...
........................................POLITICAL TRICKERY NEVER STOPS........................................................................................!
Take that you lying obstructionist teabagging GOP Birchers! Imagine how low the unemployment rate would have been if the republicans had actually helped create jobs. We need to fire all republican in 2012!
"will create several thousand new construction jobs"
Nothing could make the GOPers/Teatrolls more unhappy..
Let's hope that they use control systems built in America by American manufacturers.
Critics will say that this type of spending is short term and does not create long term jobs. They are wrong. I would point out that in this case, the technologies are fairly new. It would encourage the growth and startup of new companies. It gives those same companies opportunities to build a resume of existing projects that they can use moving forward. It also provides manufacturers of the equipment success stories that they can put into sales brochures and on their web sites.
Looks like the president is putting the hammer down...right on top of repubs heads!
More stimulus spending, that simply wastes the tax payer's money.
Making federal buildings more energy-efficient employs people now and saves taxpayers money over the long run. Just be honest and say that you don't approve of anything Obama does on principle. Even better, stop commenting altogether if you don't have anything useful to say.
There are some jobs Boehner. Where are yours?
"More stimulus spending, that simply wastes the tax payer's money.
You really don't understand even the simplest aspects of government and economics, do you? If you did, you'd know that stimulus spending is actually one of THE most effective means to jump start a stalled economy. Tax breaks for the filthy rich, on the other hand, rank way at the bottom.
We're not making this stuff up, Rick. The historical numbers prove these things over and over and over. Yet you just keep staying stupid, stupid, stupid.
I hope Cantor,Bohner, and the other Job Killers,McConnell read and listen to "Smart People" instead of watching themselves on Murdocks Faux news??? Maybe, they,ll learn more about Governing??? To late now, your circus act will come to an end in 11 months!! Can,t wait to vote Dem!!
Looks and smells like another Solyndra and Obama corruption. How much of OUR money is being directed to Obama supporters with these bogus make work programs?
Figures the repubs will say something negative...Obviously Rick McDaniel...You didn't read the article or hear the speech....It is TAXPAYER NEUTRAL!!!!...idiot.
That is the way you show those GOP/Teabaggers that you can get crap done without their obstructionist tactics. Keep it up!
Go get'em Mr. President! I hope this job growth momentum continues.

It's a much better return on the dollar than a tax cut for imaginary "job creators."
Making the GOP irrelevant....Obama 2012
Rick Mc – You really need to shut off foreign owned media, Fox, and start watching American owned media. The stimulus worked, we have the lowest tax rates in 50 years, 4 million jobs created (which republicans are now taking credit), and some infrastructure improvements. The stimulus should have been bigger, because the Bush economists gave us the impression that the loss in GDP was only 2.9% when in fact, it was at a loss of 8.9%
Thank You president Obama for help ing american get jobs.
Vote out all republican 2012 election. the republican party is destroying our country.
"$4 billion over the next two years"
Don't waste our money and time, Obama will be gone after the 2012 election.

C'mon Rick, aren't you going to defend your blatant falsehoods and stupidity?
