Women for Cain' launched by campaign

(CNN) – While Herman Cain has yet to decide if he will continue his presidential campaign following an allegation he engaged in a 13-year extramarital affair, his campaign is pressing on with efforts to promote his candidacy.

Team Cain officially launched a "Women for Cain" website Friday billed as an "online national fellowship of women dedicated to helping elect Herman Cain as the next President of the United States."

The site says the former pizza executive is a strong advocate for women and is complete with testimonials from over 30 women. It also names Cain's wife of 43 years, Gloria, as the national chairperson.

Most of the comments encourage Cain to remain in the race, with some criticizing the women who have lobbed accusations at the former radio talk show host. Other messages ask him to ignore the media.

"I hope you pursue a slander, libel, defamation of character suit against this moneygrubbing, lying woman. Granted, she has no $, but it would send a strong message," a comment reads on the homepage.

One post calls the women "money hungry" that "make me sick to my stomach."

Another says "PLEASE DO NOT PULL OUT OF THE RACE," adding that she is "encouraging everyone to ignore the media, GOP establishment, (elitists, statists) and the Obama administration to do the right thing for our country … Remember Clarence Thomas and hang in there."

Dr. Alveda King, a Cain supporter and lead voice behind the drive, said the site is the culmination of months of work intended to connect "people of like hearts and minds that are praying for Mr. and Mrs. Cain."

"I would be very blessed if Mr. Cain decides to stay in the race," King, the niece of the late Martin Luther King, Jr. and daughter of the late civil rights activist Re. A.D. William King, Sr., told CNN.

Cain has spent recent weeks rebuffing accusations of sexual harassment and most recently claims of an affair from Ginger White, an Atlanta businesswoman.

He is currently "reassessing" his 2012 plans and in an email to supporters Friday asked them to show their support for his candidacy.

"As I assess the future of my campaign, I need to gauge the support of the people of this great nation," Cain wrote. "In today's political environment, the only way we can gauge true support is by the willingness of our supporters to invest in this effort."

Gloria Cain heads up Women for Cain, so I guess she wants money coming in so she can collect more alimony. Slap the crap our of him Gloria. Take him to the cleaners. Leave him, or be an enabler. Don't whine.

  2. Republican who supports President Obama

I want to see the lawsuit for the women used in this advertisement when they realize they were used for this advertisement. I also wonder if this a front used by his campaign to disguise the lack of support.

Let's get real. He is a womanizer looking to sell books and audition for Fox News. Compared to our current President I cannot see any real reason why he should be nominated yet alone be elected to the office of President of the United States.

The abusive comments toward the accusers that are quoted in this article are not in line with someon who is pro-woman enough to go sign up for 'Women for Cain'. It makes no sense. Those comments are likely 'plants' put there by Cain's own staff to make it look like there is groundswell distrust of these accusers. There is a systematic attempt to discredit them, and it is being portrayed as grassrots, but is so patently obvious that it is astroturf.

Please Cain. You may think you are so smart, but dont assume that means no one else is.

What I don't understand is, if any of this is true, why can't anyone offer any evidence or proof? We keep hearing all this innuendo, but no one can offer anything but what they say to back them up. Anyone can say anything they want, and apparently it's okay, we no longer have any kind of burden of proof anymore. Don't say "where there's smoke there's fire" because in politics, where there's smoke, there's a mirror. In case you can't figure that out, that means it's all an illusion. Our political climate in this country has become, just say something and keep repeating it, whether it's true or not doesn't matter, it will become common knowledge if you just keep saying it.

Note to Cain: Crazed female supporters posting viscious, grammatically questionable ad hominem attacks on fellow women who claim to have been harrassed or had affair and have presented evidence to support it....EPIC FAIL.

    You're Doing It Wrong.

Wow!!! How much did he pay these women? What i don't get is why he needs to wait to talk to his wife in person before making a decision? Wish i could be a fly on their wall to see and hear it all! I don't want nonsense leading this country. These candidates are a joke! What will he do next? Start naming possible VP running mates? Bubbles the Clown!

I for one, will miss him. He has been one of the dumbest candidates in recent history- and that includes George W Bush, John Edwards and Newton Gingrich. But I thank him and the other 2 for the laughs.

Bob in PA – President Clinton was never accused of rape. You do nothing to advance your cause when you make such inaccurate statements. It just makes you look foolish.

You do know of course that Michelle Obama launched Women for Obama a couple of weeks ago?
Not only is Cain devoid of the knowledge and morals necessary to successfuly run for the GOTeatard nomination, he is also devoid of any original ideas to resucitate interest in his campaign.

  25. GOP = Greed Over People

I personally do not care where Cain puts his 9-9-9 plan or how many times he "misplaces his black walnuts", but I do care that his first response it to lie like a rug, then say some of the accusation is true, and finally play the victim(how very republican) and blame the media.

The last time a GOP President lied, people died. No more lying GOP cons in the Oval Office.

That is especially true of any GOP contender that claims to be "ordained by God" to be President!
