What does ‘suspending’ mean?

(CNN) –- With news Saturday that Herman Cain is suspending his bid for the 2012 GOP nomination, many are wondering what the move means for his future.

Federal law doesn’t have a specific definition for “suspending” a political campaign, meaning Cain is still legally considered a candidate.

Because he did not officially drop out of the race, Cain will still be allowed to raise and spend campaign funds as if he were still seeking the nomination.

If he had told supporters Saturday he was ending his bid for the White House, Cain would have been permitted only to raise funds to retire debts accrued on the campaign trail.

Cain will still be required to file financial disclosure reports with the Federal Election Commission at the end of each fund-raising quarter.

What does "suspending" mean? That Cain is in DENIAL about his viability as a presidential candidate. Do yourself a favor H-man and QUIT NOW!

What does "suspending" mean? It means, "I don't want to say 'I quit,' but I quit."

It means that he can take all that money in contributions meant for a presidential campaign and do whatever he wants with it.

In other words, "I'm not running because I finally realize I'm done, but if you're dumb enough to send me money, I can find ways to spend it and make it stick to some of my friends."

Cain's never been elected to anything, but he already thinks like a Congressman..

I believe "suspending" refers to the suspension of disbelief required for Cain supporters to do away with the ever growing number of accusers.

even though Cain is out of the race, we will still have a black president...

So ... Cain can still spend whatever he wants on anything (see media spin consultants) and "suspending" means nothing outside of a term to tell Republican primary voters he's not pursuing the nomination any more.

I'm guessing that "suspending" means that he will still take your foolish donations, because the campaign hasn't officially been terminated. You know...one of those technicalities and loop holes the rich know how to exploit.

Suspending derives from suspend, as is pants' suspenders. Something Cain needs since his pants are often down.

Cain never was a serious presidential candidate. His primary goal has been, and is to enhance his earning potential. He will exit the race because he knows that if he remains in, more allegations will render him unmarketable. That is also why his little wife is pretending to believe his lies about these women. No man pays an attractive woman's bill unless he's getting something in return.

Suspend means he can still right off all of his expenses and collect money from people, and companies dumb enough to still contribute. It is just another way for him to live off of someones else's dime while pretending to be relevant. Exactly like every other politician. It was never about America or the people. Don't be fooled by any of these political hacks. It is always about money. If something good happens for the regular joe in the process they take credit. If nothing good happens for the regular Joe then who cares they walk away with a fortune anyway. Typical CEO mentality
