What does ‘suspending’ mean?
(CNN) –- With news Saturday that Herman Cain is suspending his bid for the 2012 GOP nomination, many are wondering what the move means for his future.
Federal law doesn’t have a specific definition for “suspending” a political campaign, meaning Cain is still legally considered a candidate.
Because he did not officially drop out of the race, Cain will still be allowed to raise and spend campaign funds as if he were still seeking the nomination.
If he had told supporters Saturday he was ending his bid for the White House, Cain would have been permitted only to raise funds to retire debts accrued on the campaign trail.
Cain will still be required to file financial disclosure reports with the Federal Election Commission at the end of each fund-raising quarter.

What does "suspending" mean? It means: "I'm going to stop going to debates and quit driving around talking to people so that everyone thinks I am out of the race, but I can still raise money so that just before the end, I can jump back in and hope no one remembers that I am a scoundrel!"

Suspending means that he cracked under pressure and is incapable of handling the most fundamental tasks as a President, like a Barack Hussein Obama.
Does the Secret Service "suspend" their protection of Cain or are the taxpayers on the hook for that from now till November 2012?

Ah, I wondered about his campaign funds when he used the word "suspend" instead of ending his candidacy. I haven't learned all I need to about how this all works, but I can see the loopholes in allowing for ways to keep that money for themselves given to them from donors. And we wonder why many Politicians are called crooks.
So, basically, he wants to find out if anyone will be stupid enough to KEEP giving him money.
"Suspended" means "stalling to try to find a way to weasel out of the mess I got himself into".
Can't we stop giving people like Herman Cain, Bacchman,Perry, and Palin the Platform for the world to see how these people think and why The Most Powerful counrty in the world would even think about putting them as Comander and Chief, The President of the United States ? It doesn't make us look good to the rest of the world when they see this going on here. I hope CNN is done with Mr. Cain..............................

What effect does suspension have on his eligibility to have a US Secret Service protection? I don't think we should have to pay for a detail for a private citizen with no political ambitions in a threat environment that already has stretched the service thin on its basic protection of statutory principals (i.e. POTUS, VPOTUS, etc.).
Those who are qualified for being the leader of the free world are also those who remove their sunglasses when making political announcements.
I hope in the case of Mr Cain it means that he will insist that these accusers come up with some proof of their accusations. If they do, then his campaign is done. If they can't then I hope he moves forward. I'm not necessarily a Cain supporter, I haven't decided who I want to support as the GOP nominee. But it's a shame that people can make accusations, with no proof in hand and ruin a man's chance at the Presidency.
He's "suspending" his campaign because he doesn't have the balls to admit that it's over.
