(CNN) – Political 'troublemaker' Christine O'Donnell revealed she will back former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for president Tuesday and touted his "executive experience and consistency" in an interview Wednesday morning, where she also took aim at Romney's rival for the GOP nomination.
O'Donnell told CNN "American Morning" anchor Carol Costello that she'd "thought a lot" about her decision and hoped her endorsement will cause others to give Romney a "second look."
Romney has been criticized by conservatives for reversing position on critical issues, but for O'Donnell, "he's been consistent since he changed his mind."
"(Romney's) humble enough to say 'I don't always have the right answers,' and he's open to other viewpoints, and if it doesn't betray his core convictions, he'll make the necessary changes," she said.
The unsuccessful Delaware U.S. senate candidate and tea party movement supporter balked at behavior of fellow tea party enthusiasts saying she didn't believe Gingrich should receive backing from the tea party .
"People are trying to paint Newt Gingrich as the anti-establishment candidate, which I think is funny," O'Donnell said.
"So many tea partiers are flocking behind Newt Gingrich, I decided to come out at say…the tea party I don't think should be behind Newt at all."
O'Donnell accused Gingrich of being "inconsistent and unreliable"-criticism similar to Romney's Tuesday slam of his GOP rival that declared Gingrich an "unreliable conservative."
But, she asserted, "I'm making my endorsement as personal. As Christine O'Donnell."
"Not on behalf of the tea party," she said.
In 2010, thanks to backing from the tea party movement, O'Donnell upset Rep. Mike Castle, a former governor and the GOP establishment pick, for the Republican Senate nomination in Delaware. O'Donnell subsequently lost the general election contest by double digits to Democratic candidate Chris Coons.
She released a book detailing the events of her Senate bid titled "Troublemaker" in August.

This self-proclaimed witch is delusional and couldn't be further from the truth. Snooty Rich Romney has changed his beliefs and position on everything he said since running for governor of Massachusetts.
just what romney needs this fruitcakes endorsement. ide like to put her, palin, newt, perry, and all the teabaggers on an ice flow and shove it into the antarctic in dead of winter
Why is this news?
I think shes having an affair with Nutter and he put her up to it, the poison pill for the dip romney cult campaign.
another Republican nutcase. Obama is one of the worst candidates for president, except for all these Republican clowns. It's sad that there is no real leader among them. America is sorely in need of someone that is can stand tall.
"Why is this news?"
Because we're dumb enough to click on it just for the opportunity to post a comment making fun of this irrelevant mental slob, and because the only thing that matters to the MSM is advertising revenue. Dangerous mix, that.
"she is a looser"
Oh, I dunno know about that...I heard she was a bit of a prude.
This insignificant little nobody teabag insect is in the news why?
She should take whatever money she has left from the idiots who gave it to her and get that fat little face fixed
Well that endorsement will sure put a hex on Romney.
Man this should really help Mitt Romney having this fruit cake backing him. He surely going to loser now. But reminder she not a witch.
Does anyone seriously care who she endorses? She is just another nut job from the TParty and if I were Mitt, I'd stay as far away from her as possible. She brings no credibility to anything. What a joke! I can't believe CNN actually gave her air time this morning. Must have been a really slow news day.
Quayle and O'Donnell endorse Romney. That should lock in his nomination
IBREAKING NEWS! Nut job endorses Romney. More at 11:00.
I was hoping it was an article on Rosie.
Why, exactly, should we care what a dumb witch like O'Donnell thinks? I'm very liberal, but this endorsement makes me want to run out and vote for Gingrinch!
So glad we got the local PTA president to give us her opinion lol
Please, Christine, endorse anyone you want. If you like them, then they must be WRONG for the job.
I hate all Republicans because to them, the average hard-working American is not in the middle-class, but rather in the unacknowledged class. With that said, even Newt told a reporter that Mitt Romney made his millions by firing tons of hard working employees and was involved in other business deals that made him richer while devastating employees.
Romney never was and never will be on the side of 99% of the unacknowledged class. He is a Bishop in the Mormon Church, which makes him unwanted by the far right evangelicals since they see Mormonism as a cult.
Mitt gets flustered even on Factless Fascist Fox Noise News during interviews and presidential debates. He cares about Mitt and the rich and nothing more.
The whole Country has been anxiously waiting for this nuts endorsement. Everyone can not get behind Romney. About as
important as Palin's endorsement.
Wheeeeee: Good I was hoping we would here from her again. We need another nut in the GOP fruitcake !
Sure she's a t-bagger darling, and she's still a fruitcake with no credentials or experiance....which is why the t-baggers love her. But really her opinion means nothing in the real world, as Delaware's voters overwhelmingly confirmed.
Mitt has changed his position on every main issue in America repeatedly just to fit the moment. He has back-tracked on promises he made to voter before, which is a trend and an obsession with seeking power at any cost.
Mitt, go home. Go back to your mansion and flush your head down your Royal toilet. Pour yourself a Shirley Temple and look in the mirror at the man, who was beaten by a jerk named Newt Gingrich, who, himself, will be beaten by Obama in 2012.
The closest Mitty boy will ever get to the Oval Office is when Obama uses a wadded up newspaper with Romney's name on the back page Opinion article to spit his chewing gum in and then toss in the waste basket before making his acceptance speech.
Christine Who?
You mean she isn't running for office next year? What is she going to do for $$? Used to be, some people made a career of being in office. O'Donnell is part of the new breed (e.g. Cain) who are making a career of RUNNING for office.
I've been undecided until now. This endorsement is what I've been waiting for. Newt in 2012!
