Negotiations continue on tax cut

Washington (CNN) - Negotiations on a compromise that would extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits continued Friday, with Senate leaders and the White House saying progress was being made as Congress prepared to go into its end-of-year recess.

White House spokesman Jay Carney described the situation as "quite fluid" and expressed cautious optimism that agreement would be reached on a proposal pushed hard by President Barack Obama but resisted by Republicans.

Obama has taken less vacations than our last several Presidents. Look it up.

If the government was being managed instead of plundered in order to put a pile of cash in as many voter's hands as possible going into an election year, the tax cut would be matched by spending cuts. This is a scam. Obama is making Bernie Madoff look like an amatuer. In essence, Obama is reducing the time until Social Security goes broke to buy votes now.

    > However, the State Department, which has final authority to approve the oil pipeline,

OK, so the pipeline crosses an international border, BUT a lot of this is in the USA. So the final approval rests with Hillary Clinton? Seems very strange, but with the federal government nothing makes sense.

Either way, Canada is going to do this and we will either benefit from it or the Chinese will if we hold it up. Why should the Canadians accomodate Obama's re-election schedule and his non-leadership. This is a no-brainer but it looks like Obama is willing to screw over the USA to gain the favor of tree huggers in the November election. Pretty pathetic.
