BLITZER’S BLOG: Obama showing more fire in the belly

(CNN) – Some relatively good numbers for President Obama are in our new CNN/ORC International Poll. His job approval number is now 49%, up from 44% in November. That’s not fabulous but it’s certainly moving in the right direction for him.

The overwhelming majority of the American public likes him, as well. In the new poll, 76% say they approve of him as a person; only 19% disapprove.

    >76% say they approve of him as a person

And 51% say he doesn't deserve to be re-elected and over 70% think the country is going in the wrong direction. He's been nothing bu a full time campaigner in chief. He's never represented ALL of America for even one second while in office. Truly the divider-in-chief.

I guess those 19% could be considered TEAtards. As long as the President keeps fighting for the middle class like he's been doing, his poll numbers will continue to rise. The GOP has started a fight that they can't win. We, The People, like our President. It's YOU, Congress(particularly Republicans), that we can't stand!

It is good to see the hardest working president we've had in quite so time smiling with somebody who is not trying to stick a knife in his side or sink America.
Stay strong, stay sharp and above the fray Mr. President.
And keep fighting,we've got your back and the GOTeatards' number.

Only 16% say they approve of the way Congress is handling its job. In contrast, 83% disapprove. (I have been wondering, by the way, who are these 16%, but that’s another story.)
Count me in the 16%. I am very proud of the accomplishments of the Republican House. Finally someone representing the American taxpayer in Washington. Someone getting government spending back in control. Someone looking out for the next generation instead of plundering them as deep as the rating agencies will stand for. That's the story, Wolf.

Nobody's capable of representing all of America. Obama's never been quite progressive enough for my tastes, but he's made some progress, and he's easily preferable to any of the Republican nominees who plan to run against him.

It's difficult to imagine why anyone would vote for a hard-right Republican in the current political climate. Conservatism has its place, but the sort of oligarchic nonsense that's espoused by the modern version of the party – oh no, we've got to protect these "job creators" on the off chance they might get around to creating a domestic job sooner or later – is so clearly toxic to our way of life that I can't see why it's worth listening to them.

fore & fore, no truth nothing, Dick Dan'ls, etc., these GOP hacks are all living in the fox fantasy world where wrong is right, and up-side down is right-side up. Total BS on every post with fabricated and twisted numbers and quotes – it's typical from the least informed bunch claiming to know everything while clearly showing they care little for reality.

The current load of GOP wanna-bees are so hard radical right that their great Messiah Reagan who raised taxes at least 12 times wouldn't be aloud in their tiny bleached white tent.
Like a parasite that evolves itself into something that can't live in it's own host.

House speaker John Boehner didn’t show leadership past one year. Past 6 moths voters have seen the republican’s primary circus. So voters are making second look at president 3 years records. Many independents are going back to Obama
    too late GOP

Obama will get all hispanic vote's in 2012 and be elected. Democrats will take control of the House and Senate. We finally have a congress that cares about the middle class.

And he “really” did not have to BELLOW like Liza Minnelli
It gets tiresome when he’s compared with those of our present and past
When in the FUTURE he’ll be “untouchable” when they try to contrast!!

President Obama “again” in 2012 – the ONLY way we will WIN THE FUTURE!!!

What is so amazing to me is that Pres. Obama keeps giving rope to Republicans to hang themselves on, and they amazingly keep grabbing for more and more. In fact, Republicans keep finding more and more hands to grab more and more rope!

I think the President knew the more obstructionist the GOP got the angrier the majority of American would become. For me Boehner latest politic game of asking for the same darn thing the President asked for was the last straw. The GOP is being lead by people that have no direction and if they have no direction for their party they have no direction for the country. For 2012 the best campaigner for President Obama re-election is a Republican Congressmen. In Congress the GOP failed, the Democrats failed. That extremist group called the Tea party more than failed they made a mess. It is time to get Independents into Congress and for GOD sake lets set term limits on Congress.

The man is a "hack" and does not represent me. By the way, I am not one of those "rich" Americans that everybody says embodies the GOP. I am a working man without my hands reaching for entitlements provided by the "hack" and his minions. I got hurt in this economy like everyone else through no fault of my own but you won't see me attach my wagon to that nag Pelosi or her decrepid side kick slimey Reid.

"What they're really holding out for is to wring concessions from Democrats on issues that have nothing to do with the payroll tax cut," Obama said
Excellent statement, completely truthful, unvarnished, and loooong overdue Mr. President.
Stay firm sir. Fear not you walk in the light of righteousness.
