(CNN) – Asked how he plans to engage the gay community in his bid for president, Newt Gingrich on Tuesday told a voter he wouldn't be the right choice for those basing their decision on the issue of same-sex marriage.
"If that's the most important (issue) to you, then you should be for Obama," Gingrich told Scott Arnold, a man who identified himself as gay.

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) – One of the most influential Christian leaders in Iowa asked for help in raising money to promote his endorsement of Rick Santorum's presidential campaign, according to the Des Moines Register Tuesday. The request came prior to Bob Vander Plaats' announcement backing Santorum on Tuesday.
Yet the president and CEO of The Family Leader, whose endorsement was personal and not of his organization, vehemently denied any notion he would ask a candidate or a campaign for money.

(CNN) – Texas Rep. Ron Paul will again tout his pro-life credentials in an ad going up on airwaves in Iowa and New Hampshire Wednesday. The spot is a re-cut of another ad previously released in the early presidential nominating states, with new material added.
The ad features former patients of Paul, an obstetrician who trumpets delivering over 4,000 babies during his time as a practicing physician.

(CNN) - President Barack Obama spoke by phone Wednesday with House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on the congressional impasse over extending the payroll tax cut, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters.
Washington (CNNMoney) - A top White House economic adviser said that congressional deadlock on extending payroll tax cuts and unemployment insurance benefits threatens the U.S. economy, in excerpts of prepared remarks released Wednesday.
Alan Krueger, the chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers stresses the economic importance of keeping the 2% payroll tax cut and emergency unemployment benefits to more than 160 million American workers.
