Occupy vs. Ron Paul

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - Five members of the Occupy the Caucus movement in Des Moines Iowa were arrested this morning while blockading the entrance to Ron Paul's campaign headquarters.

Using their iconic mic-check speaking style, the protestors spoke out against Ron Paul's campaign pledge to close the Environmental Protection Agency if elected.

Sitting arm in arm, the members of the Occupy movement chanted; "We are fighting for the future generations. In order to live we need clean air, clean water, and safe food. Don't dismantle the EPA. We won't allow this business to open before our demands are met."

Police gave the protestors the opportunity to move from the private entrance to the public sidewalk twenty feet away. Some complied, but five refused to move and were arrested.

Many of the occupy demonstrators claimed sympathy, if not outright support for the ideology of Ron Paul, which made this protest especially uncomfortable for both the occupiers and the campaign.

One of the arrested protester's named Clark Davidson claimed to be a Ron Paul precinct captain as he was led away in handcuffs.

"I don't believe with Ron Paul on every single issue...I came to stand with my sisters. I came to address that with the campaign and I just got arrested," Davidson said.

No one from the Paul Campaign was immediately available for comment.

Enough with this Libertarian/Republican who wants to dominate Washington and bring destruction to our much needed agencies! Perhaps his age causes him to think so un-clearly or could it be that Paul just doesn't care about those things we care about which are clean and healthy, or is it both?

Read the article, but more curious to see how the "PaulBots" would react – and right on schedule,. here they are, parroting the same old stuff. I do not dislike Ron, would never vote for him, but his follower's need a cat scan.

More CNN slander campaign. Ron Paul is strong. And you all are terrified of him. You might not have your cushy government job forever where you get 40 days off a year, never have to produce anything and can show up to work drunk and never get fired.

    Five people?
Really just five people did this!
Not 500 or even 50 but five.
I'm sure there are five people who are just as crazy as Ron Paul.

The brains are very dead in the US. You desrve whatever is going to come your way cause your egos won't let you see between the acting and the truth. I feel bad for everyone caught in between the hold for power vs the reality of change needed. If you dont like what's going on, pick up your gun and shoot yourself in the foot now, so as not complain later that you had no idea of what was coming.

I wish Americans could divide their nation in half for say 10 years: One half for those who call themselves "Libertarians/Conservative Republicans and believe that Gov't has no role in their own lives. And the other half for those who feel just the opposite and believe that Gov't does indeed have a place in their lives and does do good works. Now given this choice which side would you want to live in? The side willing to see their federal taxes go to insure that planes stay up in the sky, food is safe for public consumption (i.e.canned tuna without samonella), a stable federal interstate highway system, public schools, a national health care (I wish) etc? Or, those who believe if you or your family has a run of bad luck due to no fault of their own.....go find a church?

Ron Paul's elevator doesn't go to the top floor and neither do many of the commenters here. The entire "Occupy" movement needs to follow JFK's advicd "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". If everyone felt that way and worked hard there would be much less wealth disparity. The problem with so many of the poor (not all but most) is that have not chosen and followed a path to the wealth that they want to share. They are sitting on their rear asking for handouts.

    @ LIZ THE FIRST
"the EPA is saving lives!"... HAHAHA!! really? hows that? show me one example where the EPA has saved a life. Doctors save lives not government bureaucracies! The EPA accomplishes NOTHING. Provide ONE just ONE example of the EPA making a difference in a community or a city. Waste is waste and this bureaucracy along with the "department of education" need to GO! They are another branch of government that cannot prove that they have done anything substantial or positive since their inception. Wake up and smell the Folgers! Free markets and free enterprise are the solutions not government meddling... RON PAUL 2012!

His old newspaper story failed, now they try this which is already failing. Calling someone who thinks outside the box a lunatic is nothing new, Darwin was a lunatic, Benjamin Franklin and Nikola Tesla were called lunatics at one time, Hell even Jesus was called a lunatic and we all see how they all turned out. The majority follow each other and the wise follow themselves.
