Obama returns to chilly Washington, political scene
(CNN) –President Barack Obama returns Tuesday to a chilly Washington, going from a family holiday in Hawaii to a decidedly different climate rife with political battles, overseas crises and continued economic uncertainty.
The president and his family left from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam outside Honolulu around 5:40 p.m. (10:40 p.m. ET), on an overnight flight that should land them in the nation's capital around 7:30 a.m ET Tuesday.

Happy New Year Mr. president. You are a good man who is trying to do what is best for the country even with the Republicans fighting you at every turn. They are loud, nasty and un- truthful but most Americans know who has the bet interests of the middle class at heart – and that is you – and who is looking out for the rich – and that is the Republicans. Many Republicans listen to Fox News who has great difficulty with the truth but Democrats and Independents watch other stations and read newspapers so we know exactly what is going on. I pray that you will be reelected in November, the Tea Party nut cases will be send back to their home districts and the once-proud Republican party will again elect statesmen to represent them who have the country's best interests at heart and will not sign pledges to the likes of Norquist. May God be kind.....
Since Obummie isn't going to work with Congress why is he returning to DC? He can stay in Hawaii and vote present just has he has in DC.
Wow, I feel sorry for Obama and Shelly having to stop their taxpayer paid, 4-million dollar vacation in paradise and have to brave the cold weather in Washington. The good news for Barry is that he won't have to stay there because the campaign trail beckons before his next vacation!
Before anyone spouts off about Obama going on vacation over the holidays, remember, your congressman did the same and went on vacation too. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that regardless of where the president went, he still had briefings everyday, so I would say his was definately a working vacation. Can your congressman say the same?

I hope the President and his family had a "restful" vacation. Welcome back to DC. I hear congress is back but they won't start legislation (LOL) until the 17th. Has congress really worked at anything since 2009. Can't think of anything except chaos and mayhem.

George W. Bush spent 180 vacation days during his first 3 years. Obama has spent only 60. The good news is that Obama can hit the campaign trail from the convenience of the White House. In fact, he's holding a webinar with Iowa caucuses today.
It seems Gurgi has somehow missed the REPUBLICANS obstructing everything and voting no on a politcal basisi alone, not for substance, not for the good of the country but purely for ideaology but at least his comment lets us all know not to read any others he posts.
Obama and Reid have been obstructing all republican solutions. Of course republicans are not going to support policies that will damage our country. Unfortunately Obama had 2 years of having democrats in the house and senate causing all sorts of damage. It will take some time for a conservative to fix. If a conservative gets elected, that is. If not, then it will take even longer to fix. If the american people are stupid enough to elect Obama again, then god help us, or somebody help us.
"Gabriel" Santorum was a 20-week product of conception that was the outcome of a therapeutic, in-hospital abortion, to save the life of Mrs. Santorum. The weird scenario of taking this tissue home for family viewing and burial is an incredulous attempt to avoid the issue of abortions utilized to save lives. Mrs. Santorum put the icing on the cake by publishing a book "Letter to Gabriel" to further her belief that she has never undergone an abortion. By-the-way, Mrs. Santorum is a nurse turned attorney-and, no dummy. Beware of this sicko family!
I will not vote for this guy. That said, how low to bring in grief/mourning/acceptance of the death of a child. That is a universal/no political party required personal coping, family decision. I applaud him and his family. Whatever it takes to heal for them. God Bless, and leave this out of the political arena.
PS. I am a Democrat. I believe in fair, truthful, discussion. Need non hysteria, emotional driven dribel "news" by media. This is why, death of child and coping mechanisms, have NO place in media garbage. On a personal level, this is a caring family man. Just not my candidate for president.
