Ron Paul: Santorum is 'very liberal'
(CNN) – Ron Paul dinged rival Rick Santorum Monday for being a "very liberal" candidate, saying the former Pennsylvania senator and staunch social conservative voted for too much spending during his time in Congress.
Speaking to CNN Senior Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash before a campaign event with his son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, the White House hopeful said his rival had taken positions counter to true conservative ideas.

"I mean, have you looked at his record? Go look at his record," Paul said.
He continued: "He spends too much money. He wasn't leading the charge to slash the budgets and vote against big government."
Rand Paul added that Santorum's vote history proved he wasn't a true conservative.
"He voted to double the size of the Department of Education," Rand Paul said. "He voted to expand Medicare and add free drugs for senior citizens and he has voted for foreign aid. Those are not conservative principles. Seventy-seven percent of the American people are opposed to foreign aid and Rick Santorum has voted for it every time it's come down."
Paul also spoke in some of the strongest terms to date about the potential of a third-party bid should he fail to secure the GOP nomination.
"I have no plans in doing that," Paul said. "Tomorrow is a big day. We'll see what happens but I have no intention of doing that, no plans and no desire."

Right, Mr. Paul, Santorum is a liberal. What else could you conclude about someone who wants to repeal the Patriot Act, dismantle the military, legalize heroin and cocaine, and thinks we brought 9/11 on ourselves. Oh, wait, those are YOUR positions.
Ron Paul is not an isolationist. He is a non-interventionist. Avert war with diplomacy and trade for prosperity of all countries who trade with us. Strong military in the ready for congressional approved wars not wasting money.
I have to say this is fun, watching one clown after another fall out of the Republican clown car is beyond amusing. They all seem to be racists, they all have an unreasonable fear of gay people, they all telll lie after lie, they seem to cheat on their spouses a lot, and call that family values. It's hysterical, just how gulliable are the Republican voters....pssst, did you know that when they all say they are going to get rid of "Obamacare" on day one, that they can't do that They aren't being elected King or Queen, this is a Democracy, and they don't have that power. The recent surge by Santorum is clearly the Republican Party trying to kill itself. It seems the Republican Party’s position is anybody but Ron Paul. Yet it is Ron Paul that espouses all the values of the basic values of the Republican Party.
Take stock of how the USA got in the current situation. There are only two types of people those who take from society and those that provide to society. The tipping point becomes when there are more suckling from the government than there are those supplying the government. You see sucklers vote for themselves which means a vote for whomever will supply them with a continuing stream of income or supplies.
Quoting a Democrat of yesteryear “Ask not what your government can do for you, ask what you can do for your government”. If Kennedy were alive today, he would be a Republican.
As a country we have to stop taking from the government and be responsible for ourselves.
I am, and many of you are, and we are exhausted supplying the non producers.
Help the truly needy and the indigent and the weakest of our society but why not let the able bodied support themselves. I have and most of you have. Is it governments place to do this? I think not after all why does religious organizations’ get a tax free ride, is not that their job? It seems that many take their tax free position to simple expand their financial base instead of serving those they are mandated to assist.
Things have to change because doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the operating structure of the insane.
I support Ron Paul as the only one with a voting record that supports my positions. I may not agree with him on all his positions, but rest assured I do on the BIG issues.
The Republican party would be much better off and appear much more dignified it it's contenders were not screeching like 2nd graders with raised hands vying for the prize while loudly telling the teacher No No No I'm the most conservative one. Jon Huntsman appears to be the sharpest pencil in the GOP box. Oddly amusing that they consider him a liberal. He has excellent foreign policy experience and the only viable economic plan.
I don't care what any of them say. I'm going by their records. From that, Paul and Bachmann are the only limited government conservatives up there. There rest are BS. And yes, Liberal is the dirtiest word we know. We could say NAZI or Communist, but that would involve a comprehension of history, and Americans aren't taught that.

Let's stop slinging the mud and vote for who ever we feel will best clean up the mess of the last 3 years.
