Soledad Reports: Iowa voter weighs in on TV campaigns

Note: Watch "Starting Point" with Soledad O'Brien weekdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. ET on CNN and check back here as she files reports from Iowa.

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) - Josh Dose, 31, came to The Waveland Cafe with his son Parson. He is from Des Moines, but is now working 12 hours away North Dakota, driving trucks and delivering freight.

"The economy is really good up there, better than here," he said. "Taco Johns is paying like 13 dollars an hour."

He wishes the economy was better in Iowa so he could work closer to his son.

"I was away from him for a good month," he said. To anyone who thinks things are better economically, he says "to each his own, everyone has a different perspective."

Dose said the campaigns have become "more of a TV thing" and he wishes the candidates would spend more time talking to people.

It would be nice if these corporate executives limited their manufacturing that went overseas. Profits should not be the only driving factor in where things are to be made. We also need to stress to other countries that they need to update their envirornmental standards. We all have to live on this planet.
