(CNN) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry suggested Wednesday that he plans to continue his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination despite his fifth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses - and despite saying earlier that he would reassess his candidacy.
"And the next leg of the marathon is the Palmetto State...Here we come South Carolina!!!" Perry said on Twitter on Wednesday morning. Republican voters in South Carolina go to the polls on January 21. The New Hampshire primary happens on Tuesday.
Perry included a photo of himself in running gear with his tweet.
Yep, better to go to SC than home to Texas and face the music. Explain again, Governor, WHY (in addition to your salary) you are collecting retirement payments from state government BEFORE you retire? How "government is the problem" when you've spent your entire life as a Texas politician employed by the state? How "special interests" have corrupted government, when your friends and political connections are given key appointments to state jobs?
Thanks Ricky this will really help team Obama!!
Maybe Perry got a call from Romney who guaranteed him a cabinet position if he would stay in the race long enough to take the legs out from under Santorum and Gingrich. Then he can quit.
So is he going to South Carolina to seek medical attention regarding that slurping sound coming from deep within his skull?
Rick Perry is too dumb to be president.
well I guess God told Perry not to quit. If INDEED it's the voice of the Almighty he is listening to.
Whoever voted for this guy should be shot out of a cannon.
Please feel free to continue your disappointing 5th place showing.
You just can't fix stupid!~
Look at that photo, he's clearly demented, is this really who you want running the country, look at the State again I repeat, he's clearly demented!
Rick, unfortunately for you, most of the states are not like Texas. In your home state which is controlled by conservative Republicans, you just tell them to "jump" and they ask, "how high". Forcing your social agenda and big business plan (the 1%) will not work outside of Texas. Better just go home and serve your state.
He's a glutton for humiliation.
Oh please please PLEASE dont drop out! We lost Cain, now Bachmann, If Rick Perry drops out, then it wont be nearly as much fun! Romney is a robot, and Santorum is the antithesis of fun (I dont think that guy knows what fun is). Ron Paul is a grumpy old man...
Well, at least we still have Gingrich.
Perry needs to pick up his toys and go home...nobody likes a bully! He has already embarrassed TX enough. It's always the dumb ones that think they are smart.
run, baby, run. keep running, never stop ...
doesn't matter anyway.
Good, stay in South Carolina please Ricky. Try and become governor there, and let Texas recover from the embarrassment.
The governor knows he doesn't have good chances in NH to secure that primary so why not go to the next stop? S. Carolina is a very conservative state with similar ideologies to Perry. He has also spent a great deal of time there campaigning and getting chummy with the local party chapters and Republican minded orgs down there. I would be surprised if he did not do well in S. Carolina. He actually has a lot of support there.
Hooray!
–Barack Obama
That's right Perry, skip New Hampshire. Them Yankees with their fancy book lernin' won't appreciate a candidate of your caliber.
Were the short shorts with the spandex leotards absolutely necessary?
