Perry tweets: On to South Carolina

(CNN) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry suggested Wednesday that he plans to continue his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination despite his fifth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses - and despite saying earlier that he would reassess his candidacy.

"And the next leg of the marathon is the Palmetto State...Here we come South Carolina!!!" Perry said on Twitter on Wednesday morning. Republican voters in South Carolina go to the polls on January 21. The New Hampshire primary happens on Tuesday.

Perry included a photo of himself in running gear with his tweet.

I just hope you don't revert to purely negative advertising Perry. That is NOT helpful and anybody except Obama. Start acting like a team player.

Perry knows that he can beat Obama in the election. This country has gone to hell and a hand basket under Obama. it isn't about saving America for our grandchildren anymore – it's about saving America today.

Perry – either stop wasting Texas money or win the GOP nomination so Obama can beat you.

Perry just manipulated Bachman into withdrawing... very clever; but he has no chance of getting nomination, let alone becoming President; we've had enough of less than stellar governor's from Texas!

Could this mean a call from Bachmann's ppl telling him they are ready to endorse him?

Save your money, governor. Seriously. We can't handle a George W. Bush clone, and we know it. That last part is critical. Save your money, governor.

Can't he just go home and continue to ruin Texas, and stop bothering the rest of the country? I agree, though...good news for all opponents...

I think he woke up this morning and forgot that he was beaten soundly in the Iowa caucus... it must have been third on his list of thing to remember.

Perry is a Dominionist who would turn the USA into a "Christian" Taliban theocracy. He has no chance, but dumb, religious Texans never seem to lack for ego.

Romney is very glad Perry is staying in the race. It continues the spilt up of the conservative vote in SC, opening the door to another Romney win. ASt this point, Romney might just run the table of IA, NH, SC and FL...

I think Perry is fun to watch. His comments bring more comedy to an already outrageous GOP field.

wow you republicans are completely oblivious of the situation you put yourselves in. "Perry knows that he can beat Obama in the election. This country has gone to hell and a hand basket under Obama. it isn't about saving America for our grandchildren anymore – it's about saving America today." There is NO fast way to solve the problems that the Bush administration and previous administrations put on America, its a slow recovery process... its not a "get steel abs in 2 days" kind of thing. You guys are gonna be recovering from the debt for quite some time, pretending that you aren't in debt will get you deeper and deeper in debt, until its your grand childrens problem.

@ Tim: " country has gone to hell and a hand basket under Obama".
Didn't I try to teach you to think first before you open your mouth? What handbasket, what hell? You just don't have any facts to back it up.
Sighs, the boy was always a bit peculiar... oh my.

A "Tweet" is the PERFECT medium for a "TWIT" from good `ol Texas!

It sounds like the Texas Twit has gotten some more Divine Guidance regarding what he should do.
TOO BAD he doesn't have better reception with his incoming communications from above.
