Huntsman: Pro-Paul Manchurian Candidate ad 'stupid'

Concord, New Hampshire (CNN) - No translator was needed to interpret Jon Huntsman's response to a pro-Ron Paul web ad that asks whether the former Utah Governor is a "Manchurian Candidate?"

"It's just stupid," Huntsman told a crowd of college students in Concord, New Hampshire Friday morning.

The web ad from the group, New Hampshire Liberty 4 Ron Paul, takes aim at Huntsman's ambassadorship in China, his ability to speak Mandarin, and even his adopted daughter, Gracie Mei, who is Chinese. The spot closes with an image of Huntsman dressed as China's communist leader Mao Zedong.

After his speech, Huntsman told reporters Paul should disavow the ad.

"If the group is in any way affiliated with his organization of course he should," Huntsman said.

"It's just political campaign nonsense. It happens from time to time," he added.

In his remarks, Huntsman described how Gracie Mei was found abandoned in a vegetable market in China and taken to an orphanage shortly after she was born 12 years ago.

Gracie Mei, who is now 12, is a fixture on the Huntsman campaign. The GOP contender often endearingly refers to her as his top foreign policy adviser.

"And now she's in my family," Huntsman said.

Polls show Huntsman, Paul, Rick Santorum, and Newt Gingrich are all in a battle for second place in the upcoming New Hampshire primary.

An actual Ron Paul supporter would NEVER make such a vicious video like this! True supporters would fight to get Dr. Paul's real message out rather than sinking to this level.

Follow the money, folks...who benefits from jingoist ads like this? Can anyone believe an actual Ron Paul supporter would consider a video like this likely to help get him elected?

It's the MSM who regularly distort his positions and try to categorize him as racist, not his own campaign.

This is obviously the work of someone who DOES NOT want to see Dr. Paul elected, and the really sad thing is, because of the recent blowback from those newsletters more than 20 years ago, all the people too lazy to do actual research on his real positions are more than happy to pick up the torches and pitchforks .

    Pathetic.

Beverly NC I read and greatly enjoy all of your posts. Even though I am not a staunch Democrat I completely agree with you, specifically your last post.
    Thank you.

"It's not a Ron Paul campaign ad. It's from one of his supporters" – The Paulbots
"He didn't write the newsletter. It was his supporters" – The Paulbots

Gonna be a lotta spin from the Paulbots over the next few months...

his supporters are as out of touch as Ron Paul. OK- by law he is not supposed to "know"anything about the ad, but..he has the right to say it's childish and out of line. Ron? Ron? Are you there Ron? nope- no response. guess he approves it's stupidity.

RonPaul put out an ad that is racist and incorrect. No doubt it was put out by an unnamed group that works for Ron, without his permission. Isn't that his reply every time something in his name backfires?

The problem is that Ron Paul is an isolationist and doesn't understand that we need to be talking with allies as well as flexing our military muscle from time to time. Afghanistan was the correct move while Iraq wasn't. There is no way that Huntsman has shown that he would be a Manchurian candidate. Where is the idea of that? There are others that speak Chinese and have they sold us out? I don't think so.

The Ron Paul campaign denied any link to ad, and denounced the ad. Enough said. There isn't any proof whatsoever of a link to the Paul campaign the media should stop jumping to conclusions. Anybody could post this and it looks like a naked false flag. And yes there is clear evidence of a false flag because the Huffington Post contacted the poster of the video and they tried to directly link it to the Ron Paul campaign. The media should follow up on who actually is behind the scam!

Huntsman is similar to Bill Bradley in 2000. He is the smartest guy in the race for the republicans and will eventually lose.

The GOP is not supporting Mr. Huntsman, the only candidate who can face Obama. That's OK, it's good practice for 2016 for Mr Huntsman.
