Man tries to use dead man's name to vote

Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN) - A man tried to vote in New Hampshire's largest city Tuesday by using the name of a dead man.

Gloria Pilotte, supervisor at the Ward 9 polling area, immediately became suspicious because she recognized the name as a man she knew who recently died.

(FORTUNE) – Mitt Romney isn't the only presidential candidate with leveraged buyouts on his resume.

Newt Gingrich has spent the past several days assailing Mitt Romney's business background, suggesting that the former private equity executive "looted" companies and "left people unemployed."

(CNN) – Republican Congressman Wally Herger of California announced Tuesday that he will retire from the House of Representatives at the end of his 13th term.

"I have been blessed with the privilege of serving my community, district, state and country for 35 years and being part of some of the most important events in our nation's history," Herger said, according to a released statement.

Republican group defends Romney from Democratic 'goofy spin'

(CNN) - American Crossroads, an independent Republican group, swatted back Democratic attacks against Mitt Romney Tuesday that claim the Republican presidential frontrunner is unable to excite more than a quarter of the GOP.

"The truth? The 25% level of support we're seeing with Romney is a floor, not a ceiling," Jonathan Collegio, the group's communications director, wrote in a memo.

Judge orders hold on Virginia absentee ballots

(CNN) - Four candidates suing the Commonwealth of Virginia for access to the state's Republican primary ballot gained an incremental victory Tuesday after a judge blocked the mailing of absentee ballots.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum claim provisions to appear on Virginia's primary ballot are unconstitutional. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann originally joined the lawsuit but has since suspended her presidential campaign.

Manchester, NH (CNN) – The media mosh-pit around Newt Gingrich should have been the first clue. The working press was in for a day of pollingpalooza.

As Mr. and Mrs. Gingrich stepped foot off of their bus outside the Webster School polling place in Manchester, an unruly mob of photographers, reporters, high school students, and thrill-seekers swooped in for the shot.

Paul defends Romney 'fire' comment, history at Bain

Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN) – Ron Paul defended rival Mitt Romney Tuesday over his Monday comment that he likes having the ability to "fire people."

Texas Rep. Paul said the Republicans who are taking aim at the former Massachusetts governor over the comment are "unfairly attacking" the candidate.

Huntsman doesn't make the cut in Arizona

(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman will not appear on the Arizona primary ballot, according to the secretary of state's office.

Secretary of State Spokesman Matthew Robert told CNN Huntsman's petitions were not notarized and therefore rejected by the office. Monday was the deadline for candidates to file paperwork to appear on the Feb. 28 GOP primary ballots.
