DeMint advisers to endorse Romney

Columbia, South Carolina (CNN) - A group of loyalists to South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint - including a top fundraiser for Rick Perry - will publicly endorse Mitt Romney's presidential bid on Thursday, a source confirmed to CNN.

Former South Carolina GOP Chairman Barry Wynn, Columbia businessman and fundraiser Peter Brown, and Columbia attorney Kevin Hall will announce their support for Romney Thursday.

Wynn's move to Romney is striking. The Spartanburg financial adviser is a member of Perry's finance team and traveled to Texas in August to meet privately with the governor before he announced his bid.

All three Republican heavyweights, who are longtime DeMint advisers, are part of an informal group of South Carolina GOP power brokers that dubbed itself the "keep your powder dry caucus" this summer to express their discontent with the current GOP field.

But their endorsement signals that Romney, the GOP frontrunner in South Carolina, has made significant inroads with the Columbia political class after his wins in Iowa and New Hampshire.

DeMint backed Romney in 2008 but has remained neutral in this presidential race.

But no Jim DeMint on record. He's either afraid to speak up for fear of losing tea party support, or he's Romney's vp pick in an attempt to unite the GOP. If that is the case – Romney has lost the general election before it got started good.

Republicans in desperate situation we got it, the real problem is Mitt Romney is not connecting to us and he won’t
We grow up in south country side, we felt G.W.Bush and Bill Clinton one of us
We feel Mitt Romney total stranger to us

This slimy politician is the last person I would respect enough to value his endorsement. He will of course endorse Romney because Karl Rove, the Koch brothers and all of the other fat-cat power-brokers have decided Romney is their boy – bought and paid for... Working class South Carolina white people continually get duped into voting Republican because of social issues the fat cats couldn't care less about – but they'll get the masses fired up enough to forget real issues like healthcare and Social Security. "If fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a Bible..."

Power brokers... Wow. DeMint the Joe McCarthy of today has Romney's backing. Nice monied plutocracy that Mitt, Rove, and Cheney are building. Sad to see our representative democratic republic go...all great nations fall.

I advise DeMint to fire those advisers because if he really is a tea partier then encouraging people to vote Establishment + banker financied Romney on the Republican side is at all Tea Party. It also shows how these advisors really operate and that they can advise DeMint to not be for limited small govt.

That wouldn't make me too happy if I was mitts. It might work in sc and the appalachian backwoods people but not in a general election!
