Gingrich will release tax return this week

Washington (CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday he will release his income tax return this week and he reiterated his challenge for Republican front-runner Mitt Romney to do the same.

Gingrich's comment on the NBC program "Meet the Press" continued his campaign to get Romney to disclose details of his personal wealth.

    Seeing how much Newt made as a lobbyist and his speaking fees won't do much to endear him to the voters. Romney's capital gains profits, with their 15% tax rate, will do far more damage. What we need now is a rumor that he paid no income taxes or some such nonsense. It's dishonest, low-brow, and disgusting, but fair game after the birthers. And this is South Carolina we're talking about.

    Mitt doesn't pay ANY taxes. Deductions, loop-holes, capitol gains, etc. HE PAYS NOTHING.

    Mittens is a multi millionaire, and it is apparent he does not want everyone to see that he received $13 million from Bain last year, and many more millions from other sources, yet he pays little to the government.

    I'm glad Gingrich made a vist to a black church and even though his comment about President Obama was a very UNcaled for and insensitive comment at least he had to courage to reach out and TRY to explain himself.

    Having said that – WHERE ARE WILLARD ROMNEY'S TAX RETURNS? He knows he pays liltte to no taxes and probably gives only to his cult. If he continues to refuse to hide those returns he should be HAMMERED until they are made public record.

    They came out like vultures, asking and requesting for President Obama birth certificate. This was their subject. Mr. Trump why don't you force Mitt Romney to release his tax return.

    @Debra from Ga – THANK YOU !!!

    if s.c & the peole in this country really wanted to know the truth about "the newter" all they have to do is google his name. "newt gingrich" all the ethics violations & the wives he has married, and sleeping with other women while his wives were in the hosp – & the whole 9 yards about the newter. He's nothing but a D.C. insider – if he's our next prez – GOD help us. nothing will change in D.C. it will be more of the same – as a matter of fact -there will be much more gridlock.

    It might be a little bit poor calculations of Newt. He could had released his tax returns immediately after New Hampshire voted, so that to allow enough time to squeeze Romney to release his as well. He can still do, but not beyond Tuesday!

    And how about the off shore accounts? Or his wife's personal return? Am I saying he's dishonest? No- I'm saying too many people in his position do these things ad get away with them becuase it's seen as normal.
