TRENDING: Gingrich's Secretary Palin?

(CNN) - If Newt Gingrich wins the White House in November, the former House speaker said Wednesday Sarah Palin may get a big seat at the table.

"I would ask her to consider taking a major role in the next administration if I'm president, but nothing has been discussed of any kind," Gingrich said on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."

Tune in Thursday at 8 p.m. ET for the CNN/Southern Republican Presidential Debate hosted by John King and follow it on Twitter at #CNNDebate. For real-time coverage of the South Carolina primary, go to or to the CNN apps or CNN mobile web site.

His comments came one day after Palin urged South Carolina voters to head to the polls for Gingrich during Saturday's first-in-the-South primary.

She said a win for Gingrich would prolong the Republican primary and allow voters more time to vet the remaining candidates.

Asked if he would consider the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee to be his own running-mate this time around, Gingrich insisted it was too early to discuss a possible short list.

"Certainly, she's one of the people I'd call on for advice," Gingrich said.

Can you imagine this loon as Secretary of State? Or for that matter any of the loons even in any Cabinet positions let alone the Presidency...?

Cool! I'm thinking Secretary of State. She could retake those junior high civics and world geography classes, bring a globe to the meetings and be all set. Of course the first order of business would be to start something with Iran. You know, commit a couple trillion dollars and a couple thousand American young men and women and we'd get exactly what we've got right now in Iraq. Love it! Love the plan!!!!!!!

Sarah Palin!?!?!?!?! Oh my God! Newt! What are you smoking? Say it isn't so. Sarah Palin is a lobotomy victim just like the rest of the republican party.

I think this is a great idea for the Newt campaign. It worked so well for McCain...

I use to marvel @ how Gingrich had Svengalied" the GOPTP`ers into believing that he is intelligent enough to face our erudite President.

After these pronouncements regarding a cabinet position for Palin? or not an outight rejection of her for VP, NOBODY with half a brain could think he has any real intelligence.

This thought is completely sick, If any lets this bimbo any wheres near DC. Newt has to be completely out of his mind to say something like this. What is he thinking? Maybe he is looking for a different wife.

Did we need another reason to prevent a Gingrich candidacy in the general election?

Newt is not dumb. He's not honest either. This is just an attempt to get the far right vote. If he got the nomination he'd put some distance there fast.

Palin Doesn't want A real job – she wants to be talked about so she can continue to be relevant and keep cashing in at Fox. For her, it's all about the Benjamins.

Newt please take Perry with you so we can get him out of Texas. He's just as smart as Sarah. They are both house broken and they would never say or do anything to undermine you.
