TRENDING: Gingrich's Secretary Palin?

(CNN) - If Newt Gingrich wins the White House in November, the former House speaker said Wednesday Sarah Palin may get a big seat at the table.

"I would ask her to consider taking a major role in the next administration if I'm president, but nothing has been discussed of any kind," Gingrich said on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."

Tune in Thursday at 8 p.m. ET for the CNN/Southern Republican Presidential Debate hosted by John King and follow it on Twitter at #CNNDebate. For real-time coverage of the South Carolina primary, go to CNNPolitics.com or to the CNN apps or CNN mobile web site.

His comments came one day after Palin urged South Carolina voters to head to the polls for Gingrich during Saturday's first-in-the-South primary.

She said a win for Gingrich would prolong the Republican primary and allow voters more time to vet the remaining candidates.

Asked if he would consider the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee to be his own running-mate this time around, Gingrich insisted it was too early to discuss a possible short list.

"Certainly, she's one of the people I'd call on for advice," Gingrich said.

I would give Palin a very big seat at the table if ellected president. How many more reasons do people need to know that the GOP is not playing with a full deck? Obama 2012.

If this doesn't convice you to vote for someone else there is something wrong with you. This is like saying "Hey Capt. Francesco Schettino I have a cruise ship I need help with."

I know Gingrich is trying to survive past S.C. but he is sure to lose votes by putting Sarah "Know Nothing" Palin anywhere near his or any administration. She's good for firing up rallies, end of story.

As a Republican and a conservative that speaks for most in my party I'd like to apologize for Sarah Palin. She's had her 15 minutes, she's made her 25 million...now, PLEASE, just go away. The woman doesn't have a unique intellectual thought of her own, and even if she did, she couldn't communicate it. The best thing she could do right now is go hide until after next November. She has ZERO influence these days, anyway.

  13. Please no...

If there's any intelligence in the GOP at all, please realise that Palin is a disaster and you don't want anything to do with anyone that caters to her.

Oh, I bet Sarah is eating this up. She is too stupid to know he is saying this to get votes! Then if he is elected, he will ignore her. Although he won't be president.....this is one of the most immoral men that has been in politics.

The staggering dumbness in the GOP!
Of course Gingrich never will make it to the presidency, but just imagine Palin in the cabinet! The joke of the century!

Let's just say Newt is NOT going to be the Republican nominee so he can quit fantasizing about the White House. Newt's ego is too great and his baggage is too extensive – he has snowball's chance of winning in general election. After his disappointing loss in SC on Saturday, will Newt be "bold" enough to fold his tent and get out of the way? I hope so because I am truly tired of listening to him already.

Does Sarah Palin type? I'll bet she can answer the phone and schedule appointments. If she can stay young-looking for a few more years she might make President Newt a good secretary. "President Newt".... I just threw up a little...

Anyone who would call Palin for advice is clearly not someone I would vote for, and not just for president.

I'm afraid that Newt's brilliant intellect can only be found in the same alternate universe where Al Gore's brilliant debating skills are on display. . . *SIGH*.

Gingrich is all talk and no bite. Besides, he's too volatile. People see through him when there's time to take his words under consideration, but then he delivers these fighting ZINGERS in the debates and conservatives go crazy over him. And then when things cool down they remember why he lost his popularity in the first place, and decide on another candidate.

Besides, no one in power takes him seriously. His last notion was to have Mr.Bolton serve as his V.P. and Mr.Bolton thought so highly of Gingrich that he endorsed Mitt Romney.
