TRENDING: Gingrich's Secretary Palin?

(CNN) - If Newt Gingrich wins the White House in November, the former House speaker said Wednesday Sarah Palin may get a big seat at the table.

"I would ask her to consider taking a major role in the next administration if I'm president, but nothing has been discussed of any kind," Gingrich said on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."

His comments came one day after Palin urged South Carolina voters to head to the polls for Gingrich during Saturday's first-in-the-South primary.

She said a win for Gingrich would prolong the Republican primary and allow voters more time to vet the remaining candidates.

Asked if he would consider the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee to be his own running-mate this time around, Gingrich insisted it was too early to discuss a possible short list.

"Certainly, she's one of the people I'd call on for advice," Gingrich said.

Gingrich – Palin ticket??? I think I could run with my 8 year old son as my VP and beat this pair. As for a 'mojor' role for her in any administration, I just don't see it. Maybe she could be a special assistant to someone's special assistant.

Just give her an office and tell her she’s secretary of air mites, or snipe hunting, she doesn’t know enough about government to know the difference.

God help us. No way I'd vote for someone who would even consider putting Palin in any position of responsibility or power.

Could Newt be ANY MORE out of touch with America? Palin is toxic. She's both reviled and a joke at the same time, which is her only accomplishment.

Newtie just wants to cheat on his wife with Sarah. No place for women or minorities in a Gingrich White House.

How forgetful we are. Palin was drag on the ticket for McCain and the contrast between Prof. Gingrich and Palin the anti-intellectual would be enormous.

He probably has something like the EPA or Interior in mind. Still, Newt should have answered that question along the lines of; there are many qualified people to chose from and when the time is right I'd work with my VP to fill all the positions with the people who have the greatest capacity to serve this country in the manner that befits the position for which they are asked to serve.

What a wonderful asset should would be. A self-made woman who made her way to the top through hard work while raising a family is something too many other people are lacking. What a excellent example for all of us!

It is significant that Newt raises this in SC. He would never have done this in NH. This will work in SC because Palin appeals to the religious zealots there (yes, I said religious zealots, watch the audience reactions during the debate and decide for yourself). NH is far too moderate for that. Question is, is the nation as moderate, or just crazy?
