TRENDING: Gingrich's Secretary Palin?

(CNN) - If Newt Gingrich wins the White House in November, the former House speaker said Wednesday Sarah Palin may get a big seat at the table.

"I would ask her to consider taking a major role in the next administration if I'm president, but nothing has been discussed of any kind," Gingrich said on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."

Tune in Thursday at 8 p.m. ET for the CNN/Southern Republican Presidential Debate hosted by John King and follow it on Twitter at #CNNDebate. For real-time coverage of the South Carolina primary, go to CNNPolitics.com or to the CNN apps or CNN mobile web site.

His comments came one day after Palin urged South Carolina voters to head to the polls for Gingrich during Saturday's first-in-the-South primary.

She said a win for Gingrich would prolong the Republican primary and allow voters more time to vet the remaining candidates.

Asked if he would consider the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee to be his own running-mate this time around, Gingrich insisted it was too early to discuss a possible short list.

"Certainly, she's one of the people I'd call on for advice," Gingrich said.

Newt considering Palin for anything solidifies it for me. The man is signing a death sentence for his winning the election if he endorses that ignorant woman for anything. But then again, I'm a Mitt Romeny person and I trust him to make good choices

The chances of me voting for Newt is 1 in 1000. If Palin were to have anything to do with his government...it would be 1 in a million.

Gingrich wants Palin in his gov't? That's just more proof that he is unfit to be President.

If Gingrich alone isn't enough to do the ticket in, then adding Palin sure would be.

NO!!! Don't mention her name! We haven't heard from that shrill in months, and the only way she stays away is if the media doesn't give her attention.

If Gingrich takes Palin as running mate, his support among non evangelicals will drop to virtually zero. S I suspect she will,be asked (to make them happy) and she will be told to refuse. I really don't think we need God as another branch of government, that is demeaning to him, and unconstitutional besides,

Newt was making a comeback against Romney in the polls, then he sticks his foot in his mouth. Never under estimate the predictability of stupidity.

I know she's a quitter and all, but to be on yet another losing ticket? That might be even beneath her.

Way to go Newt. Another blunder. Probably the final nail in the coffin. All these candidates are putting Obama back in office for another 4 years.

Yes! I'm one of the few that really likes Sarah Palin. Get past the "twang" and she's really a smart, down to earth, practical and hard working woman. Give the duo a chance. You'll see America come back to life. People forget how she dismantled the "good ole boys" club in Alaska. Aren't you sick of the good ole boys club in Washington? Even Hiliary Clinton is part of the good ole boys club. I'm sick of it. And to those of you who think she was "unqualified" when she was the vice-presidental pick before..... look what you elected!!! Someone who was a community organizer.
He can't organize squat. Is there one aspect of our lives that has improved Obama took office?

And to think I was actually considering vioting for this guy. You blew it Newt. If you want this bonehead to have a "major role" in your administation then I'm afraid you are not going to have an administration. I'll stick with Romney.

These people are a bunch of NUTS!! Can you imagine any of these crazy looney Republicans running the country? What a disgusting bunch. The idea of Newtie and the nut lady Palin running our country is ridiculous, folks let's get ready for the biggest show on Earth if Newtie wins the nomination, and for the MILLION DOLLAR MAN, Mit, he, too, is a dumb rich heartless man masquerading as the man that can lead us to a better tomorrow. For now let's work with President Obama, he is the only one that can lead our country to a better future. His doing his job with an open heart & an open mind.

Hey, maybe Newt should consult with J. McCain on how to assure you loose any credibility and the election.
    Outrageous! A cheap desperate attempt.

If he were to win with her at his side.. We would then have much to fear..As common folks we would be spared no mercy. In fact the thought of those two running things is frightening.. There seems to be not a thimble full of compassion between the two of them. All for the rich corporations with bottom line all about the wealth.

PLEASE put Sarah Palin in with Newt'r, as his vice presidential mate!
It is a guaranteed loss for the Republicans. The Dems absolutely cannot stand her.
A large number of Independents think she's a complete flake.
Even a prominent post for her would be anathema to a huge number of voters.
After all, she did SO much for McCain' presidential bid.
    Go Obama!

OMG! No Way!!! If Newt wins the nomination, then I hope Obama wins the election! America is doomed with Palin in the White House!! Heaven Help Us!
