TRENDING: Gingrich's Secretary Palin?

(CNN) - If Newt Gingrich wins the White House in November, the former House speaker said Wednesday Sarah Palin may get a big seat at the table.

"I would ask her to consider taking a major role in the next administration if I'm president, but nothing has been discussed of any kind," Gingrich said on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."

Tune in Thursday at 8 p.m. ET for the CNN/Southern Republican Presidential Debate hosted by John King and follow it on Twitter at #CNNDebate. For real-time coverage of the South Carolina primary, go to CNNPolitics.com or to the CNN apps or CNN mobile web site.

His comments came one day after Palin urged South Carolina voters to head to the polls for Gingrich during Saturday's first-in-the-South primary.

She said a win for Gingrich would prolong the Republican primary and allow voters more time to vet the remaining candidates.

Asked if he would consider the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee to be his own running-mate this time around, Gingrich insisted it was too early to discuss a possible short list.

"Certainly, she's one of the people I'd call on for advice," Gingrich said.

Birds of a flock!!! Both overtly racist and pathologically self-important. As for the Tea Party activists cheering this "ridiculous" merger, they might be well-advised to inspect the two personalities before "pledging" their allegiances. It is just a matter of time before the two personalities will clash and they will take down the entire Republican party. Mr.Gingrich has just shown a glimpse of his "cannibalising" tendencies with Rick Santorum...more to come. Well, as far as, Ms.Palin is considered less said the better.

I hope he would ask her for advice and then do the exact opposite. I know bags of hair that have more common sense.

Was Palin referring to herself or McCain when she said the candidates were not vetted far enough the last time ?

There you have it, folks. It's official. Newt is nuts. Palin as a political advisor? Seriously she's qualified to consult on hunting rifles as she uses them but using her brain for politics? Not so much.

Newt has now officially told the public he found his next conquest in Palin and at the same time he lost all chances of ever being President. The biggest sign that you are at rock bottom and desperate is telling people you would hire Sarah Palin, thought Newt was smarter but just guessing his testosterone got overloaded from working so hard for his country these past couple months. He just gave the nomination away with this kind of talk.

Biggest mistake he could make, would lose so much support with Palin involved, she is the reason I didn't vote for McCain

So Newt will definitely call on Sarah and consider giving her a seat at the table. Sounds like a story about two kids in a junior high school cafeteria.

He'd seriously call Palin for advice? Advice on what? How to do a book tour? How to extend your 15 minutes of fame into 60 minutes?

This is just one more reason Romney will get the nod. It has become apparent Newt doesn't learn from history.

Well done, Newt. With one sentence you just lost all credibility. Anybody who would hop into bed with that nutbag has no business in the Oval Office. Romney vs Obama. Obama wins.
