Charleston, South Carolina (CNN) - One of Jon Huntsman's top backers in South Carolina will throw his support to Newt Gingrich on Thursday ahead of the CNN Republican presidential debate in Charleston.
Mike Campbell, the son of the late former South Carolina Gov. Carroll Campbell, told CNN he plans to make the endorsement at a campaign event this afternoon.
After Huntsman abandoned his presidential bid earlier this week, Campbell's endorsement was sought by Gingrich, Rick Santorum and aides to Mitt Romney.
Of course they endorsed him. He's the only one who can beat Romney. He's also a Christian, which is more than Romney can say.
It breaks my republican heart that we lack a good candidate to oppose Obama. Newt is probably the best suited politician of the crop, but the guy has the moral standards of a drunken pimp, and yes, that does matter.
Long term, Obama's socialist agenda will kill this country, socialism is like peeing your pants, it feels nice and warm for a little while, then it just stinks. We simply cannot afford a socialist rule in this country, there are simply too many people willing to take hand-out's, and contribute nothing. We would eventually run out of money........
Sadly, if Newt is the pick of the litter, it is hard to see how Obama won't get 4 more years.
Anybody else notice that Chris Christie is echoing Newt's daily talking points too? Check him out – he sure is.
When your guy quits, then pick up and move on to those that are still standing. Do these people matter? Only matter to those that know them which most people don't.
Rasmussen new poll show Newt Gingrich at 33% Mitt Romney at 31%
