BLITZER’S BLOG: The gloves will be off in Thursday’s debate

(CNN) – A week ago, the Gallup daily tracking poll of registered Republicans around the country had Mitt Romney at 37% with Newt Gingrich at only 14% percent. Guess what? That 23-point spread has now disappeared. The new nation-wide Gallup numbers: Romney 29% percent to Gingrich’s 28% percent. That’s a statistical tie well within the 3-point sampling error.

It only goes to show you how quickly political fortunes can change. Fresh from his double-digit victory over Romney in South Carolina, Gingrich now certainly has the political momentum going with him into Florida’s January 31 primary. He seems to be on a roll.

I believe the Sara Lee commercial summed it up best, "Everybody doesn't like something, . . ." , but nobody likes Mittens.

Wouldn't be nice if you could reach down and find it in yourself to be "fair and balanced" in your questions and comments? I find CNN to be the better at covering live news events, but when you are leading a discussion, I have to turn to Fox for more professional commentary.

Will Mittens take his mittens off? Will Newt bring a date with him to the debate? What about Mittens' birth certificate and Newt's lobbying? Can republicans convince voters that we need a circus side show act in the white house? When can we have a war with Iran? This will be a debate for the oatmeal and cocoa crowd.

Newt is like the big bully on the playgound. GOP candidates need to take him on about his own health issues-fat and terribly out of shape....and all his old tricks in DC. The gloves need to COME OFF NOT ON....

If Newt wins the primaries, will he challenge Obama to 100 seven hour debates?

Wolf Blitzer, please stand up to push for tough questions. Newt said: when you are running for public office, EVERYTHING is on the table. Nobody can bully you_the messenger for the mess they created.

You know what wolf man I wish they would keep the gloves on and KO themselves to put the country out of its misery.
This has been the most annoying boring (and that says a lot about the party of hell no) that I can remember.
None of the candidates are worthy of cleaning up toilets in the WH much less being president and living there.

Bring out the popcorn and make you are on time and don't be late
But if the "BLITZ" does not "rearrange" King's question on Newt's "Openness"
All journalists will go down and Newt will think he owns the treasure chest!!

I would continue to ask the questions MOST Americans are concerned about
Not what please a "few" far-Right angry White men with CRAP coming out their SNOUT!!
If we continue to allow the RIGHT to call all of the shots and run the show
Then what’s the SENSE in having debates; Town Hall meetings are all they need, you know!

Go get ‘em on Thursday Blitzer!!!

If I were a Democrat being bombarded by superPAC attack ads, I would run a counter ad WITH MY NAME ON IT that points out that my opponent is sponsored by special interests who pay for the superPAC ads.

"Since unemployment peaked at over 10%, it has sinced shown a steady decline is not close to 8%. What statistics can you cite that support your charge that the economy has gotten worse?"

You have Gingrich's contract but where's the budget that the contract amount was based on?
    That's where the detail is.

This will be like Hillary vs Obama. Long and drawn out. The only difference will be that neither GOP candidate will become POTUS.
