
New York (CNNMoney) - Newt Gingrich is the latest Republican candidate to challenge the conventional wisdom that Mitt Romney is destined to capture his party's nomination.
Gingrich just delivered a wallop to Romney in the South Carolina primary, and the gap between the candidates has narrowed so severely in recent days that the two are virtually tied nationwide, according to Gallup's latest national tracking poll.

"I never refer to Obama as President Obama because legally he is not," the woman in the audience began. "He constantly says that our constitution is passé, and he ignores it as you know and does what he darn well pleases. He is an avowed Muslim and my question is, why isn't something being done to get him out of government? He has no legal right to be calling himself president."

(CNN) – A week ago, the Gallup daily tracking poll of registered Republicans around the country had Mitt Romney at 37% with Newt Gingrich at only 14% percent. Guess what? That 23-point spread has now disappeared. The new nation-wide Gallup numbers: Romney 29% percent to Gingrich’s 28% percent. That’s a statistical tie well within the 3-point sampling error.
It only goes to show you how quickly political fortunes can change. Fresh from his double-digit victory over Romney in South Carolina, Gingrich now certainly has the political momentum going with him into Florida’s January 31 primary. He seems to be on a roll.

New York (CNNMoney) - The one thing Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich seem to agree on about Freddie Mac is that it played a significant role in the housing bubble - and the subsequent financial meltdown that followed when it burst.
But many experts in the field question that view, saying Freddie Mac and fellow mortgage financer Fannie Mae were relatively small players in the rapid growth of subprime and other risky home loans while the housing bubble inflated - and were relatively late to the game at that.
